Discussion Re: HH & Future Southern Dynamite

All,

I'm sure all of us have noticed we seem to have been especially snakebit with absences and real world incidents during this rp period. Indeed, I think this happens to every fed at some point in time. Without laying blame, pointing fingers, etc. I'd like to open things up to some discussion regarding where we go from here. Two things in particular I have in mind, but if anyone else has any questions/comments, I'm more than willing to listen.

1. Should we have a one-time exemption for no-show's for the first HH?

-What I mean is, should we waive the "2 char dev rp's before you're booked again?" With this busy time of school, work, family issues, etc, a lot of people have either not rp'ed or have done so less than they normally do. Should we consider this an irregular occurance, wipe the slate clean, and move forward?

2. Should RCW move to a weekly sign-up format for Southern Dynamite?

-I'll say I'm a little biased in this regard. As a booker, it's a great tool to have the entire roster at my disposal to make cards, and also make sure that all active members in the fed are rotated on a regular basis so everyone can be included. On the flip side of that coin, I also understand the frustration of people who rp their behinds off only to have someone no-show. This would alleviate that, but of course there remains the possibility someone could sign up and turn out to no-show.

So please, let the discussion begin. I'd like to hear from everyone who has an opinion. I honestly say that no matter your opinion, your views will not be held against you.

Also, please remember that the time-off board is there for everyone to utilize. I understand as much as the next man that real life happens, but please, drop a quick note just to let us know what's going on.

I'm not one for bending the rules myself, however I would be lying to say that it would be a releif to not have to post two roleplays on the developement board in order to be able to participate further. I had every intention of roleplaying on friday, though something real life did occur which is sitll troubling me.

Yeah I think so, especially seeing as the people that didn't rp are at least somewhat established here and not just some random guy that signed up a week ago and somehow got on the card.

2. Should RCW move to a weekly sign-up format for Southern Dynamite?

I don't really think we should have a sign-up for three reasons:

1. Some people get on irregularly and if you happen to miss the day/s of the sign-up, then they probably can't get a match.

2. Even with a sign-up, things will still come up in real life, still causing no-shows.

3. I prefer seeing several different guys in matches than just having the same people each week, regardless of how active they are (of course, if someone is inactive for a long while and seems to be gone, then they probably shouldn't be booked any further.

I agree with the Trench Coat Mafia on this one. I really think that sometimes "crap Happens" and in this case, it wasn't like Joe Blow didn't put out, this was some of our top talent.

Too Sexy, Ares, Sinclair, Isaac Comelightly, and El Bastardo and Chris Sinclair's match was one I was looking forward to also and neither of them showed up.

As for the exemption. I believe everybody should get one F up before they are subject to a penalty. You know, "This is considered your verbal/written warning, don't do it again" followed by some finger wagging. I honestly was trying my hardest to get an RP up for the Battle Royal even though I'm "injured" and couldn't compete. But, some days, or weeks for that matter, just conspire against you. Plus, some of the no-shows this week did jump on and give us an update as to why they couldn't RP, that needs to be taken into consideration as well.

As for a sign-up thread, an old fed I was in (dun remember which, I think it was called SCW) Had a weekly sign-up sheet, and a permanent sign-up sheet. That way ppl could just sign up on the perm one, and just post in the time off board weeks they didn't want to be booked. That way the booker doesn't have to wait for a sign-up sheet to go out, and ppl who want to be part time can sign up when they want to. It worked out real nice in my opinion.

I for one apologize for not contributing as I wanted to for HH, but as I said, sometimes this conspire against you.
