A night of firsts. The first time Southern Dynamite was featured on Versus. The first night thousands upon thousands of fans got the chance to see RCW at it's best. The first night EB Marcus wrestles. On the biggest show of RCW's history so far, E.B. Marcus made his debut since his "change". His first match since being attacked by Hardcore Jesus. And not just against guys with talent like Nathan Sanders or Jamie James, but against true talent. Talent like Delilah. A match that put him further in the "Southern Championship Challenge".
This week he's facing the challenge of two former Southern Heritage Champions and a man who's proven his strength in RCW. With opponents like Ase, Jeffrey Hollywood, and Vash, Marcus will have the toughest challenge of his career, but the payoff is that he's one step closer to the Southern Heritage Championship.
The Elite tourbus has finally made it's way back to Fayette, Arkansas. Marcus has set up an interview with Melvin Gates. Gates waits outside the building, cameramen in tow for the arrival. The bus pulls into the parking lot of the Boys and Girls Club, and after a few moments Marcus steps out. He's wearing a pair of jeans, black leather jacket, and mirrored sunglasses. He walks straight towards Melvin, with a new swagger. A swagger that was never seen with Early Beauchamp. Marcus is quickly followed by the Climax of th' Night and their ladies. Melvin begins by greeting everyone as the cameras are set up. A huge RCW banner is set up outside the building promoting the new show on Versus. A perfect setup for a promo.
Melvin: I'm here in front of the Fayette Boys and Girls Club, home of RCW's Southern Dynamite on Versus. I'm proud to be here today with members of the group known as of late as the "Elite". E. B. Marcus, Climax of th' Night, and the O-Team. This friday, Marcus, you will get a chance to move closer to the Southern Heritage Championship as the second part of the Southern Championship Challenge goes into the second round.
Marcus: Exactly right, Mervin.
Melvin: It's Melvin.
Marcus: I know your name, remember, I've known you since I was six years old, Mervin.
Drexl and Galen step in closer to show the cohesion of the group. Melvin Gates seems to get a bit uncomfortable at this point, but continues anyway.
Melvin: The only reason I agreed to do this interview was because of your dad, Early. I've always been a friend to your family. So you can call off your dogs.
Cot'N steps in even closer. Melvin gets an angry look on his face, as does Marcus.
Marcus: My father has nothing to do with my actions anymore, Mervin. If you call me Early once more, then this interview is over and you can explain to AJ and Benjamin why you couldn't get the job done anymore.
Melvin: I can't believe you've come down so far.
Marcus: Come down? Are you serious Mervin. I'm on top of the world right now. Look at what the Elite have accomplished in less than two months. It's more than my father accomplished in his entire career. Now, do you want to continue talking about how I've changed. I can continue to show the world how people like you, Mervin, caused the change in me. I don't remember you ever coming by the hospital to see me or my father, as big a "friend" as you say you were to my family. Shall I continue, Mervin?
Melvin: Let's just focus on Southern Dynamite.
Marcus: Fine by me.
Melvin: Well, nobody can argue that the changes you've made in the ring have made an impact lately. You had an impressive victory over Delilah Ghost and were the second fastest victory of the night. The reason you are in that fatal fourway match as part of the Southern Championship Challenge.
Marcus: While I have nothing against Delilah Toast, and I respect her in the ring. The better person simply won the match last week. Not only that, it was exactly what the fans of RCW wanted to see. Our match created a buzz all over the world.
Melvin: I can't disagree with that. There's been alot of talk about RCW on the internet, radio, newspapers, magazines, and everywhere in between. Your match was considered one of the best of the night.
Marcus: That's why we call ourselves the Elite, Mervin. Just our presence in the ring will speak for us. Regardless of whether the RCW fans like us or hate us, they'll respect us. That shows in every match we have, whether it's myself or Cot'N in the ring.
Melvin: So also moving on with the fastest time of the night is Vash. He proved himself last week as well with a victory over Matt Cook.
Marcus: Rash hasn't proven anything, Mervin. He won a single victory over some mama's boy. He faced a mere nobody and yet he could only beat my time by thirty one seconds. It took me thirty one seconds longer to beat a person the calibur of Delilah Toast while Rash couldn't even take a nobody like Matt Crook out.
Melvin: Why is it that you insist on changing names, Marcus. It's Vash.
Marcus: You people of RCW don't deserve me to get your names right, Mervin. At the end of the day I will get back on this tour bus, and forget all of you.
Melvin: So you think that Vash is the underdog in this matchup?
Marcus: Actually no, Mervin. I'm sure that everyone in the world looks at me as the underdog in this match. At least those who watched Early Beauchamp wrestle would think that. Some probably won't even think of me as a threat even now. Even after I beat Delilah Ghost. Alot of people will see that as a lucky break, or fluke. Rash is clearly the largest man in this match this week. He's proven his worth in RCW, or so people think that guys like Crook and Lenny Lancing are worthy of proof. It's been said that the man with one eye is king in the country of the blind. As long as Rash is facing guys of that calibur, he'll be considered a "one eyed king".
Melvin: Vash won't be the only person in that match, a former Southern Heritage Champion, Ase will be as well.
Marcus: Don't worry, Mervin, I won't mispronounce Ase's name just yet. I don't know exactly what rating system Versus has put on RCW just yet. Just remember that there's a name I'll be thinking of while I'm speaking of him.
Melvin: That's nice to know.
Marcus: Ase. He's a simple weapon. He's being used by a master. He's a puppet on a string. A tough puppet no doubt. I will admit that it would be tougher for me to pin him than it would be anyone else in this match. Not impossible, Mervin, just tougher. He's a monster in the ring. But that's not a problem, Mervin.
Melvin: Why do you say that?
Marcus: Because, I don't have to pin Ase in this match. As a matter of fact, Mervin, I don't have to pin anyone in this match. All I have to do if avoid being pinned myself. I could simply walk down to the ring and avoid all three contenders in the match, let them beat the hell out of each other and walk out with my place in the following week's challenge.
Melvin: Is that the plan?
Marcus: No, Mervin. As little as I care what the fans of RCW think about me anymore, I do still have to prove to the world that I am the best wrestler in the world today. I do still have to put on a great match for those new Versus veiwers. RCW still has to have great matches to pay the bills, and that's a big part of why Cot'N and I have to be the best at what we do.
Melvin: So then there's Jeffrey Hollywood, yet another Southern Heritage Champion.
Marcus: Jeffrey Wishecould is tired of being second best in RCW. He's fallen short so many times that it's eating away at him.
Melvin: So what's your plan of attack?
Marcus: That's the second dumbest thing you've said all day, Mervin.
Melvin: It's just a question.
Marcus: A dumb one.
Melvin: So what was the dumbest thing I've said?
Marcus: When you called me Early. But back to the subject. Why would I want to tell you my plan of attack on Jeffrey Wishecould. If you'll remember, I've been training with Drifter for over a year now. Do you think he didn't teach me tricks just for the moment I stepped in the ring with Jeffrey Wishecould.
Melvin: Drifter?
Marcus: Yes, Mervin, if you'll remember, Drifter and Jeffrey Wishecould were in a couple of rival wrestling brands a few years ago. Wishecould was supposed to be the next big thing for that company. He was actually called the companies best at one time. Drifter defeated Wishecould and that was the end of his high ranking in that company. Wishecould simply fell off the planet. He'd let his company down. He'd looked second rate against Drifter, just like he looks second rate behind Doug Getalong in RCW. Just like he'll look second rate after E.B. Marcus after next week. Wishecould may not fall off the planet just yet though. Like I said earlier, he doesn't have to get the pin this week, just keep himself from being the one getting pinned, and there's always the one eyed king in this match.
Melvin: Well, Marcus, I can't say it's been a pleasure, but you did answer all my questions, so for that I thank you.
Marcus: Thank you, Mervin. Keep being nice and I'll consider moving you back up my list of people to allow a friendship later.
Melvin: Will you get my name right then?
Marcus: Possibly, Mervin.

{There are no cameras around as Vash sits in an enclosed porch off the back of his home. His view though the trees is the nearby lake. He sips from a bottle of Jack Daniels as he stares at the lake. After a few moments he glances down to an open notebook laying next to him.} Vash: “How can one argue the case of Mother Nature’s infallible abilities when Man has been imposing his will on her for centuries, forever destroying her work to make an even more beautiful masterpiece of his own...”{Vash picks up the notebook and a pen. He begins to write.} Man lives and breathes to make his mark on the world around him. He destroys life to create new his own version of life and beauty. Dams are the most obvious example of this, but anything of beauty to man can usually only come into being by destroying the natural beauty that was once there. The most ironic is when Man destroys a piece of nature only to imitate nature in a grander scale. But he is never satisfied, never finished with his vision and dream to create the ultimate embodiment of true beauty.{Vash closes the notebook, sets it aside, then picks up his cell phone. He hits a speed dial number and waits as the other end rings.} Vash: “Hello... it's been a long time and I've been thinking about a lot of things lately. I'd really like to see you. Stop by anytime, I'll be waiting for you.”{He hangs up and again stares out at the lake as the sun begins to set over it, painting the porch in red, orange, and violet light. Vash sighs and downs the last of the Jack, then gets up and walks off into the kitchen. A sable-brindle pit bull walks into the room and rubs up against Vash's leg as he glances in the refrigerator. Vash reaches down and pets the dog before pulling some food out and setting it on the island. He uses a remote to turn on some rock music as he begins to prepare dinner. The dog lays at his feet, watching attentively, and is rewarded with the occasional piece of food.} Vash: “Well, Zoltan, what would you think if we had some company tonight, someone other than the visitors we've had from RCW lately?”{Zoltan looks up at Vash and wags his tail with a “smile” on his face, then rests his head contently on his paws. Vash finishes chopping up his ingredients and places them all in a dish and into the oven. He then walks into his living room, Zoltan at his heels, and sets to work getting a fire going in the fireplace. He sits down on the couch and Zoltan jumps up and lays down next to him. Vash turns on the tv and starts to flip through the channels as he pets Zoltan. Zoltan's ears perk up as a knock is heard at the door. Vash gets up and answers the door, welcoming a female figure in.} Vash: “I'll have to say, I'm surprised you took me up on my offer. Dinner should be ready soon, and I have some white zinfandel if you'd like...”~~About six hours later~~ {The RCW camera is all set to roll and fades in as Vash is clearing his living room of two wine glasses and a wine bottle. The camera follows him into the dinning room as he begins to stack plates and dishes.} Vash: “A wonderful evening was had by all at Southern Dynamite 50 and its grand premiere on Versus Network. I was slightly surprised at the fact that the young Matt Cook decided to show himself, but the match went just as I expected it would. I doubt we'll be seeing much from Cook in the future, I think this defeat helped cement in his young mind the fact that he just doesn't have what it takes to take on men of my caliber. And as I predicted, I was the man of the evening with the fastest time. I brought myself one step closer to victory in the SCC.”{Vash carries a stack of plates into the kitchen and begins to rinse them and load them into a dishwasher as he continues to speak, occasionally glancing at the camera.} Vash: “It has come to my attention, however, that one of my competitors seems less than impressed with what I have accomplished in this company to this point. To him my victories are worthless and meaningless. Even the accomplishment of fastest time is of no importance to him, in fact, he used it as a matter to mock me over.”
“Yes, E.B., I agree with you that my victories thus far have been against 'the blind', the weak, the naive. What you fail to realize is, I accepted those matches and took those victories with pride because I knew I was making RCW a better place by destroying them. And really, E.B., look deeply, think long and hard... is what I did to those blind men, those nobodies, any different than what Hardcore Jesus did to you?”
“From what I have learned, you were also a useless waste of space in this company. You had no talent and everybody knew it. Hardcore Jesus met you in a match and beat you into a hospital bed. And as you laid there, abandoned by those from this company that you thought cared for you, it became eventually obvious that you had been deceiving yourself. No one cared. No one visited. You had a very painful defeat, but it made you realize that you were weak. You were unskilled and useless. So as you healed you vowed to yourself that you would improve yourself. You wished to become elite. So off you went to Japan to gain the training, discipline, and experience you felt you needed. You saw your flaws and shortcomings, that you were unworthy of the life you wished to have. But you changed, because someone stepped in and taught you the error of your ways.”
“All I am here for, Marcus, is to live out to my full potential, and in the process to help others see that they are unworthy of the path they have chosen. I only hope to be a guiding light to the dreamers and idealists. I had to clear my way though the inferior before I could step into the ring with some real competition. But Marcus, if you wish to be petty, I could also point to the fact that you have only had ONE match since your return to RCW that could easily be written off as a fluke. I could imply that your victory was somehow less meaningful because it was against a woman. But both of those statements would be insulting my own intelligence and a clear underestimation. It's easy to throw around accusations, now show me what you can really do, E.B.”{Vash walks back into the living room and sits on the couch next to his pit. He scratches the dog's ears lovingly, then focuses on the camera again.} Vash: “Hollywood, I must say that it saddens me that without my interference last Friday night you would have been discounting my presence in our upcoming match. You have also picked up on the fact that my previous matches were against those of lower ability, but I would have thought that since you claim to be the best in the business you would have expected me to have my sights set on you. Yes, my attack was to make an impact, but really it was more a test of your character. Your reaction, I must admit, disappoints me. You said that now I'll have to deal with the results of my actions and deal with you? Trust me, Hollywood, my plan has been to 'deal with you' all along. From the moment I was chosen to be in this match, I have planned on meeting you in the ring and testing your worth. You think very highly of yourself, and you have a beautiful list of accomplishments to back up your beliefs. But you have never met a man in the ring like me, I can guarantee you that. I have never yet met a man my equal, and I plan on seeing what a talent you really are. That's why I am still so disappointed that you planned on ignoring me in this match, that really isn't a strike in your favor to show that you are a man of superior greatness. Something tells me this match will be a far greater challenge for you than you realize.”{Vash grabs a nearby glass and takes a drink before returning his intent gaze on the camera.} Vash: “And then we come finally to Ase. To me, you are the greatest enigma in this match. E.B. calls you nothing more than a weapon, a puppet controlled by another. I've seen a great deal of talent and ability in your matches since I've joined RCW. It's a weak man indeed that submits to the will of another at the full dismissal of his own will. But you are far from weak as these others I have faced. I see a dormant hunger in you, the great man you must have once been and could be if you decided to put your own pleasure and agenda as your highest priority. You see, to a man like myself that lives life on a higher plane than the rest of the world, MY will and MY pleasure are all that matter. Being a superior being, even the morals of the common man are inadequate and irrelevant. I can see some of that in you, but you are allowing yourself to be held back. I hope that in our upcoming encounter, you could put some of what is holding you back behind you. Bring out the real Ase behind the Ase we see.”
“All I have to say, gentlemen, is that I plan on leaving the ring this Friday night in glorious victory. I have no intentions of hanging back or purposely avoiding you as the three of you battle it out. I will stand my ground, test your true worth, and take the pin victory. And I do intend at the end of this challenge to be in the middle of the ring, my hand and head held high. I WILL be the LAST MAN STANDING!”{Vash laughs evilly as the camera fades to black.}
