We don't really have a The Rock or The Steve Austin anymore. They are gone for all purposes.
It's always been amazing to me that stars of that caliber found the limelight at roughly the same time. Never before and never since have we seen such a boom.
We have HHH, HBK and Cena. But they don't REALLY match up. Like, if The Rock and Austin were around, Cena wouldn't be a blip on the radar. HHH wouldn't be pandering to fans and HBK would be hanging on to his natural personality to keep him tagging along but nothing else really.
In my opinion, The Rock may not have had the same impact as Austin did, but still he was right at that level.
So who's next do you think. Who do you see with the potential to blow up to a new Austin? Rock?
Who will be the next star to break the casual fan barrier and have normal people wearing their t-shirts in the streets again?
Are they on the verge now? Is it nobody? Could TNA surprise us?
In all seriousness. At one time my money was solely on ...Val Venis. But that ship sailed with the RTC.
Now, right NOW the only person I see with the total package is Randy Orton. But he'd have to turn face at some point.
Maybe MVP, if he's even taken seriously.

Rey, I'm sorry, but if you ever....EVER....put Randy Orton in the same class as Austin or The Rock again, I'm going to do something horrible to you. I don't know exactly what, but it might just be enough to get me on the FBI's 10 most wanted list.

P.S......Randy Orton knows a grand total of 2 moves, sleeper hold and RKO. He couldn't pull off being a face. Period. Vinnie Mac could be standing at the arena entrance, paying each and every person coming to see the show that night ten thousand dollars so they'd believe in Randy Orton as a face and it still wouldn't work. Didn't work the first time they tried it, won't work when they try it again. He makes a great heel. No, I'll give the guy a lil' more credit, and say he's the perfect heel. There aren't enough of those either. Any new characters show up here and use Orton as their pic base? Yup, I'll instantly hate them and Delilah will prolly start trying to pick a fight. *lol*
One more lame joke........if you look up 'douchebag' in the dictionary, you'd most likely find Randy Orton's picture.
He's an improving wrestler, a brilliant heel, but that's about it. Face turn = no good for Orton. Hopefully *rolls eyes* he's got years to improve. Too bad he'll never be able to perform on the levels of Austin or The Rock.

I may be one of the only ones but i NEVER thought of Rock as a legit main eventer. Too me, he got shoved down fans throats and at the time they were too f******* stupid to reject him. He had NO in-ring skills. You talked about Orton only knowing two moves wendy... all Rock knew was the gay-a** people's elbow and the rock bottom.
Austin was decent, but still never really became a huge fan of his. Sure, both guys could work the mic but look at Santeno(sp)... he's probably one of the best heels on the mic right now, but will get nowhere because of his size and his poor in-ring ability.
I could see CM Punk getting there in the future, but who knows... WWE doesn't know how to use their talent anymore and dont even get my started on tna... OH GOD they were going down the shi*er!!!!

If WWE let Santino keep his gimmick from his indy days people would think of him as a legit bad ass. Santino made the list of 50 toughest badass to pass through the Ontario Indy scene in the last 20 years. That's a pretty tough list that not alot of people know about, especially if you don't follow the Ontario Indy Wrestling scene.
To clarify, Santino's indy Gimmick was that of a Black Belt Mixed Martial Arts fighter (legit). If he's ever given a chance to run with that Gimmick in WWE he may very well become the next big thing.
Mind you to me the man with the perfect package in the WWE right now is EDGE. He can work both face and heel. He needs to break away from Vicki and start standing on his own again. I think that will happen when Christian makes his return to WWE.

The Rock technically was the worlds largets failure as a pro-wrestler. He's the only man booed as a face and cheered as a heel. Consistantly. Austin, sure he was a dark horse kinda guy, but I have to say that the Rock belongs on the big screen and should stay outside of the squared circle. It confuses the youngin's when they see the villain cheered and the hero booed.
