6/16/09 Fayetteville, AR ************** MG: Hey, Doug, how’s it going?DG: Pretty well. I’m really looking forward to my match tomorrow. MG: As you should be; it’s very important.DG: Tell me about it. So, is Nate still here or did he leave after his interview was over? MG: As far as I know, he left.DG: I guess Carl and Beavis finally talked him into going out tonight. [The two men laugh to each other. Melvin pats him on the back as the camera man hands him his microphone.]MG: Are you ready then, Doug?DG: Yep, let’s get this over with. I’ve got some more training to do. MG: Very well.[The camera man counts the two men down and then the camera begins recording. Melvin’s logo fades up onto the screen.][It then quickly fades away as Melvin begins the interview.]MG: Hello again, wrestling fans. You’re old friend, Melvin Gates is here with an exclusive interview for RCW. I’m joined here today with an individual who may soon get his shot at the Southern Heritage Title. I’m talking about the “Burning Hammer” Doug Gavelon. Doug, thank you for joining me today.DG: My pleasure, Mel. MG: Now, tell me, what made you decide to be in the Southern Heritage Title picture?DG: Well, Mel, like I’ve said before, it’s been over a year since I came to RCW and I’ve accomplished a lot during my tenure…but not everything. Sure, I got my shot at the title during that battle royal last year but was scr*wed out of the title by the current champion, The Phil. Since then, not a day goes by where I not only want payback on Phil but also want what’s rightfully mine and that’s the Southern Heritage Championship. MG: Are you surprised that AJ Supreme and Ben Jacobs placed you in the contendership match with two men?[Doug just gives a mocking smirk.]DG: Not really because you just have to look who I’m facing. I mean, if I were facing Eno Redrum or Ase then I would be worried. Considering I have to face two guys who the boys in the back like to refer to as “that first stupid b*st*rd” and “that second stupid b*st*rd,” I’m not really worried. Think about it: would you be threatened by a team where one of them can’t even remember his usual mask and has to wear a d*mned paper bag? I sincerely doubt it. Besides the point, it isn’t like they’re a complete mystery to me anyway as Nate and I defeated them to advance a few months ago in the tag team tournament. I easily handled them then and I’ll do the same at Southern Dynamite. MG: Is it possible that you could be overlooking them?DG: It’s not just a possibility but a certainty because they’ve proven that they’re not worthy of people’s time or energy. They lost to us in the tournament and then got destroyed at the last show by Eno and his new partner. In between, they’ve continued this idea that people actually care who they are when they’re nothing but an annoyance. Who’s under the masks? I don’t know, I don’t care and neither does anybody else in RCW. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they unmasked as Brantley and Sanders because at least then there would be a reason for their terrible performance. At this point, they’re just two guys who are too afraid to show themselves and are in over their heads. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll roll over both of them at Southern Dynamite. [Melvin’s eyes grow wide for a moment as he reacts to the words just spoken by Doug.]MG: Now, a lot can happen within the span of a few weeks and if the Southern Heritage Title were to be defended again, who would you rather face if you’re victorious over the Bastardos: Ase or Phil?[Doug places his arms on his hips as he thinks for a moment. He looks back up at the camera as he responds.]DG: I guess that I don’t really care who the champion is when I get my shot. Not just because I know that I’ll become champion no matter what, even though that is the case, but also because I know that whoever I face, it’ll be an incredible match-up. I’ve already described the animosity I have towards Phil and Ase was one of the men I had to compete against in that battle royal. Both should present their own, interesting challenge to me and I can’t wait for the opportunity to face either one for the title. MG: Thank you, Doug, for joining me today. This has been another exclusive interview for RCW. Thank you for joining us and I’ll see you all at Southern Dynamite![The camera man signals cut as Melvin and Doug shake hands.]MG: Good luck, Doug.DG: Thanks, Mel. I’ll see you around. I’ve got some more work to do. [Doug walks out of the media room and proceeds back to the weight room; continuing his preparation for the match to come.]Later that night… [Doug, his training finished for the day, walks through the door of his apartment. Tiffany is busy making dinner in the kitchen. Doug is talking to somebody on his cell phone.]DG: So, where are you?…You’re with who?…Who’s Maya?… [Doug’s eyes grow wide, as does his smile.]DG: …Oh, I see…Well then, I won’t keep you… [Doug laughs loudly as he gets a certain response from the other end.]DG: …Alright, Nate, I’ll see you tomorrow then…Okay, man…’Bye. [Doug hangs up his phone and sets it on the coffee table in the living room.]Tiffany: So what’s Nate up to?DG: He just left the bar with “Maya.” Tiffany: Who’s that?DG: Some girl he met at the bar, I guess. Tiffany: Well, as long as YOU aren’t meeting anyone at the bar.[Doug rolls his eyes as Tiffany smiles. Doug walks over to her and gives her a hug. He pulls back and they kiss; Tiffany continuing to stir the contents of the cooking pot.]DG: So, what are we having tonight? Tiffany: I figured I’d make spaghetti.DG: Oh, that sounds good. Tiffany: I know. I was just finishing the sauce now.[Tiffany raises her wooden sthingy out of the pan; steam rising off of the sauce that remains on it.]Tiffany: Here, have a taste.[Doug takes the sthingy and tastes the sauce. He lets out an “MMMMM!” as he smiles before handing the sthingy back to Tiffany.]DG: That tastes great, Tiff. Tiffany: Yeah, I know, and then dessert should be good, too.DG: What’s for dessert? [Tiffany flashes him a mischievous smile.]Tiffany: Oh, you’ll find out.[Doug’s eyebrows rise as he returns her smile with one of his own. He leans in again and they passionately kiss; the steam continuing to rise out of the pan.]
