The scene opens to Dewey Bird at the State Hospital in Little Rock visiting his tag team partner and cousin Early Beauchamp. Early is barely awake but somewhat alert no doubt. Dewey seems to be a bit blue over the situation.
Dewey: Hey cuz.
Early: Dewey?
Dewey: Yeah, it's me. You know that I wouldn't leave you alone at a time like this.
Early: How long you been here?
Dewey: All night bro.
Early: What day is it?
Dewey: It's Saturday man, fourth of July.
Early: We were supposed to have a cookout at daddy's house today. Everyone there?
Dewey: No, kid.
Early: Why?
Dewey: Well, your dad is here.
Early: To see me, tell him to come in!
Dewey: No, Early, he's here in a room. One floor down.
Early: Why is he in a room?
Dewey: Hardcore Jeez worked him over pretty good.
Early: But we got him out before anything major, right?
Dewey: You ran out of the dressing room. I was right behind you, but someone tripped me in the hallway. By the time I got up and got out to the ring, Hardcore Jeez had high tailed it out of there. I'm sorry, Early, but I tried.
Early: I know you did, Dewey. So is my dad okay?
Dewey: Yeah, I'm sure he is. I think.....uhh....they just got him here still for observations.
Early: Good. I'm not even worried about myself. I was just worried that something had happened to my daddy.
Dewey: No way, cuz, you worry about yourself, and getting out of this place. Your dad will be fine. He was up talking to nurses and stuff last night....pissed off cause they didn't season his food enough or something.
Early: I'm going to get that Hardcore Jesus. As soon as I get out of this bed.
Dewey: Just rest, Early, I'll take care of Hardcore Jeez.
Early: You should ask for a match for next Southern Dynamite.
Dewey: I did. As soon as I made sure you and your dad were out of the building, I stormed right into AJ Supreme's office and demanded that he give me a match with Hardcore Jeez.
Early: So you fighting him this week?
Dewey: No. AJ.....ummm....AJ didn't want us to fight each other right now. He's looking out for us, he said, afraid someone will get hurt or something. I think he mentioned an insurance policy being up or something. But don't you worry, buddy, I'll take care of him. I'll talk to AJ this week and let him know. Maybe I'll get a match with him at School of Hard Knocks 2.
Early: You'd do that for me?
Dewey: For you and your dad.
Early: I'm glad that we've got you watching our backs.
Dewey: This week, I'm taking on Brock Davids.
Early: Damn man, I'm sorry I let Hardcore Jesus get the best of me. We'd be in that tag team title run.
Dewey: It's okay, we will be soon enough. Just get better, I'll take care of everything at RCW.
Early: Thanks, cuz.
Obviously, the lies just keep building up for Dewey Bird. Hiding the fact that Cletus Beauchamp is in a coma. The story that someone tripped Bird in the hallway. The fact that he simply decided not want to face Hardcore Jesus with a baseball bat. And a bogus conversation between himself and AJ Supreme that never took place. The hole is getting deeper for him, but will he be able to dig himself out? There will be no Early Beauchamp at Southern Dynamite to bail him out this week. There will be no one to accompany him to his match with Brock Davids. The time is growing for Dewey to make his own way. Will it happen?

Post by The Davids Brothers on Jul 6, 2009 23:54:32 GMT -6
"A Place To Stay"Adam and Brock Davids are standing in the RCW locker room what appears to be just minutes after their impressive tag team victory over Nathan Sanders and Mark Brantley. They are dressed and just about ready to leave when theres a knock on the door. The brothers look back at the door as it opens and in walks none other than Melvin Gates.Adam: Hey Melvin. What's up?Melvin: Hello Adam. I just came in as a messenger from the powers that be. Adam: Oh yeah? Did somebody already accept our open challenge?Melvin: Not quite. You can see the dissappointment in the faces of both brothers.Melvin: Both AJ Supreme and Ben Jacobs were very impressed with your match tonight. However, they realize that Mark Brantley and Nathan Sanders aren't exactly top competition. They wanted to give you another match at next weeks Southern Dynamite against a tougher team, but unfortunately, most of the other teams in RCW are busy at the moment. So, instead of giving you a tag match they gave Brock a singles match against Dewey Bird.Adam: Who the hell is that?Brock: He sounds like a Sesame Street character.Melvin: Early Beauchamps partner? Fellow with a mullet?Brock: Oh the Billy Ray Cyrus doppelganger! The guy who looks like he follows Larry the Cable Guy around the country!Melvin: That would be the one. Well fellas, I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got to run.Adam: Ok, Melvin. Thanks for letting us know.Melvin: No problem guys.Melvin leaves the locker room. There is a pause and then Brock breaks the silence.Brock: So where are we gonna stay tonight?Adam: We could sleep here. Brock: No thanks. I don't need neck problems.Adam: Well we don't exactly have a lot of options, Brock. Brock: Whatever happened to that Janelle chick? Does she still live in Eureka Springs?Adam: No she moved to Denver a few months back. Brock: Damn. What other options do we have?Adam: There's always sleeping in the Sunfire. There is a long pause as both brothers try to think of somewhere, anywhere to sleep. Brock: Well, I guess we should head out to our bed in the parking lot then. Without saying another word, the duo reluctantly walks out of the locker room and down the hall. They are just about to exit the Boys and Girls Club when a father with his sons approach them. This is an interesting looking trio to say the least. The father is of average build and is balding. He also has a striking resemblence to Al Bundy from Married With Children. The two boys look to be in their early teens and are unique in that both of them look like they could be future serial killers. Man: Hello.Adam: Hey...what can we do for you?Man: My name is Charles. My family has heard of your need for a place to stay and would like to invite you to stay with us.The man speaks with a heavy Russian accent and his face remains emotionless while he talks. The brothers are caught off guard and there is a silence. Brock: No thanks. We found a place to stay.Adam shoots an angry look at his younger brother. Adam: Charles? Would you excuse us for a moment.Charles: Of course.Adam and Brock walk out of the families range of hearing. Adam: What the hell are you doing? Brock: What? You want to take the offer from the Manson family over there? Look at them, Adam. They look like they are gonna kill us in our sleep.Adam and Brock look back over at Charles and his two sons. They all have the same, dead expression on their faces. Adam: Brock, we are wrestlers. Are you telling me that you think we can't handle an old man and two ten year olds?Brock: What do we do while we sleep? Adam: We can lock the door. If there are no locks we can just stack things up in front of it. We'll be fine and it will only be for a week or two. Brock reluctantly agrees and the brothers walk back to Charles and his two sons.Adam: Brock and I would like to accept your invitation.Charles: Excellent. I would like you to know you will not owe us anything for your stay. You will be fed home cooked meals and have your own room to stay in for as long as you like. Brock: You cook?Charles: No, my wife, mother and daughter all do the cooking. As a matter of fact they are making some dinner right now so we should get going. The three men and two boys then head off together towards the parking lot, with Charles, Brock and Adam making small talk along the way. The boys are completely silent, which is weird for kids their age. Once the Davids brothers arrive at the Sunfire, they notice one of the tires is flat. Under closer examination, it looks to have been slashed.Brock: Alright Adam, let's just sleep in the car. This whole thing is getting even more weird. Before Adam could respond, Charles pulls up in his old red truck. Charles: What's the matter?Adam: Somebody slashed our tire. Charles: That is unfortunate. You can just ride in the bed of the truck. We will fix your tire tomorrow.Brocks eyes get really wide and he shakes his head no to his brother. Adam: Come on.Adam hops in to the back of the truck. Brock: Adam, think for a minute. You know this isn't right. Adam doesn't respond to Brock. Brock sighs and hops into the back of the truck in spite of his better judgement. Then, the truck takes off. The ride is long and bumpy. Most of it is on a dirt road through heavily forrested area. Brock and Adam have to yell at each other because of all the wind. Brock: Why do you trust this guy so much?Adam: I don't. I just know if things get too sketchy we can get ourselves out.Brock: How? We don't have a car! We don't know where we are going! Who says he is even taking us to a house. Maybe hes just taking us out to the country to kill us!As Brock says this the truck slows and makes a left turn. The moon casts a light on a poorly built house just up the long driveway. They've arrived. On the porch, there is a woman with big, 80s, whole can of hairspray type hair smoking a cigarette. As the five guys walk past, she smirks, but doesn't say a word. Adam and Brock assume this to be Charles wife. One of Charles sons goes to the front of the group and holds open the noisy screendoor for everyone else. Adam and Brock thank him for the kind gesture, but he doesn't even aknowledge them.
As soon as they enter, they notice two pictures on an entry table. One looks to be a few years old, as the boys look a lot younger. The other looks to be an extremely recent picture because the boys look exactly the same now as they do in the picture. The house itself, is, to put it nicely, a piece of sh!t. The hardwood floor is missing planks and it lets out an irritating squeal with each step. The walls are painted a nasty faint green color and the window sills are covered in centuries of dust. The furniture looks like it was won on a 1970s version of the Price is Right. The whole place smells like an abandoned retirement home. Worst of all, the house has less technology than a Pennsylvanian amish village. Seriously, not a television, computer, or even telephone is anywhere to be seen.
The Davids are lead to the kitchen, which looks to be the cleanest part of the house. When they enter, Charles mom is putting the finishing touches on what appears to be quite a dinner. Charles' daughter (The middle girl in the second picture) is sitting at the long dining table, with her face resting in her palms, looking bored out of her mind. A few minutes later dinner is served.
During the feast, the table is silent. This is not because there was a lack of things to discuss, but rather a fear of the answers they might get back. Adam wanted to ask so many things, such as "What happened to the other two people in that family portrait?" and "Why did you guys take us in?" and "How did a Russian family end up in Arkansas?" However, Adam felt it was best to just enjoy the food, get to bed and save the questions for another day.
After the awkward meal, Charles leads the brothers to their room and leaves them alone for the night. The 10 by 10 room consists of two blue cots, a night table, and an old lamp without a shade. This is essentially a glorified prison cell. The only positive thing about this room is that the door has a lock, which Brock locks the moment Charles exits the room. After swiftly locking the door, Brock turns back to his brother and talks for what seems like the first time in hours.Brock: Look what you got us in to! A bunch of zombie Russians are gonna murder us just for the hell of it!Adam: I know it looks bad. I know these people are strange, but its only for a few days.Brock: Where are we supposed to train? I have a match in a couple weeks!Adam: I don't know Brock. We'll have to find a place.Brock: When are...Adam cuts off his brother.Adam: Brock, I'm tired of your constant dairy cowing and questioning. This isn't exactly an ideal situation for me either. This is gonna be a rough time for us. We just need to get through it, get a couple of paychecks under our belt and we'll be able to live normally again. For now, just go to sleep. Its not going to do us any good to stay up all night worrying. Theres a silence while Brock thinks over what his brother just told him.Brock: Yeah, you're right. After convincing his brother, Adam turns off the lamp and falls asleep almost immediately. It takes Brock a lot longer to drift off because his cot smells like piss.END
