9/09/09 Curwensville, PA *************** [Inside the home of the Natural Champion, Nate Sipes prepares for the journey that he’s made for so many weeks and months in this year: his trip down to the Boys and Girls Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. As he finishes gathering up his stuff, his girlfriend Maya does the same but with a slight attitude about it. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Nate as he watches her slam her last few belongings into her carrying bag.]NS: Now what’s wrong?Maya: It’s…[Maya just shakes her head and angrily sighs.]Maya: …nevermind…NS: What?[Maya zips up her bag as she looks up at Nate.]Maya: I just don’t understand why we have to go through this every week.[Nate just holds his arms out at his sides as if to say “what’s the problem?” Maya slings her carrying bag over her shoulder.]Maya: Why can’t we just move into an apartment down in Arkansas?[Nate lowers his arms and runs his right hand over his face.]NS: We’ve been over this: I live here; WE live here; this is our home now. I don’t feel like just packing up and moving to a new place.[Maya’s eyebrows rise in surprise and contempt.]Maya: Yeah? Well, I just so happened to have grown up in that “new place” and I wouldn’t mind “just packing up” and going back. Besides, it didn’t stop your cousin and Tiffany from moving down to Arkansas. Hell, they rarely ever visit people this far north anymore.NS: That works for Doug and Tiff. It doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t work for Carl and Beavis and I don’t know why you didn’t bring this up before?Maya: Because I didn’t think we’d be away for so long. I hate only being able to see my friends for a day or two at a time anymore. I hate always having to leave them behind just because the show is over. I hate that you, basically, forced me to leave my life behind.[Nate sighs deeply, places his head into his hands and just shakes it in disgust.]NS: I never forced you to do anything. I asked if you wanted to move in and you said “yes.”[Nate raises his head out of his hands and looks right at Maya.]NS: If Arkansas meant that much to you then you should’ve told me this beforehand and I would’ve taken that into consideration. But, right now, you’re bringing this up at a time when I really don’t need it. Sure, Firebomb isn’t even as close a threat as he was two years ago but he’s still dangerous enough that if I drop my guard, he could embarrass me by winning the match. Look, I love you and care about you but I can’t be juggling a career and a girlfriend that thinks I ruined her life.[Nate walks past her; looking back at her as he opens the door.]NS: So, are you coming or not?[Maya crosses her arms in anger; silently staring at her embittered boyfriend. After several moments, she uncrosses her arms and quickly walks out the door; Nate slamming the door shut behind him.]9/1/09 Fayetteville, AR ************** [As the day draws near for the next Southern Dynamite event, Nate stops by the Boys and Girls Club early. Instead of entering the arena though, he walks into the media room; preparing to conduct a promo for his upcoming match. His look is still of frustration; his mind still partially set on his continuing conflict with Maya. The camera crew, not prepared to handle the Natural Champ angry at them, quickly set up the equipment and count him down. The light on the camera turns red, the scene fades in and Nate crosses his arms; preparing to speak.]NS: And so, the first round of the Pure Tournament is complete. Eight has become four and four will soon be two. However, there seems to be a slight gap in the logic of the RCW booking staff. You see, despite his loss at the last show to Delilah, Firebomb has been granted a match against me, the Natural Champ.[Nate just rolls his eyes.]NS: It definitely seems like a lapse in logic; having four other athletes compete for a title shot and yet having a loser from the tournament face me in a non-title setting. Am I saying that I’d want to run away from this supposed challenge in front of me? Of course not. It’s always been both my policy and the policy of the 7 Day Army to face any and all comers who get in our way. What I’m saying is that there’s an obvious lack of fairness at play here; the other four having to wait for their shot while Firebomb goes to the front of the line.[Nate just shakes his head for a moment.]NS: No matter. I’ll prove that Delilah’s victory over him was no fluke and that he doesn’t even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the RCW Natural Title. That breath shall be saved for the aforementioned Delilah Ghost, the valiant Puck, the foolish Jonathan Page or Mr. DOA himself Alex Crowe.[The mentioning of Crowe’s name turns Nate’s demeanor into an angry scowl. A shiver runs down his back before he composes himself and continues.]NS: In fact, the only reason I can think of on why Firebomb’s been given this opportunity is because of my history with his family. You see, the first losses I ever sustained was to Firebomb’s son in XL. It was these losses that led the “boss man” to decide that I wasn’t good enough to be a champion in his company. Considering the fact that I’m the longest reigning Natural Champion in RCW history, I’d say that I’ve proven that idiot wrong.[Nate flashes his smile. He soon reaches his right hand up and wipes it away.]NS: Now, Firebomb, you may think that the fact you had success in a dozen organizations ten or twenty years ago makes you the favorite for this match. All that “experience” does is make you more susceptible to failure. You see, while you were busy being a “pimp” to a bunch of old, bloated wh*res, shooting steroids and running on top of dying company after dying company, I was turning myself into the athlete that you see before you. While someone like you may have been impressive back in the days when people didn’t know what a real athlete was, that’s just not the case anymore. When you step into that ring at Southern Dynamite, Firebomb, you will see the next evolutionary step in professional wrestling. You will see the real freak of nature that will make a dinosaur like you extinct. Firebomb, at Southern Dynamite, you will be proven as a fraud at the hands of yours truly, Nate Sipes.[The camera man cuts the camera and the equipment is picked up by the other crew members. The camera man looks over at Nate, still with an angered look on his face, and can’t help but ask about it.]Camera man: So…how’s everything, Nate?[Nate just shakes his head; his hands now placed on his sides.]NS: Maya’s really messing with my mind. She thinks I ruined her life just because I asked her to move in.Camera man: Yeah, that kind of stuff is tough, man.NS: Yeah and this is the last thing I need to be focused on. If she distracts me too much, that bloated a**hole may find a weakness and I’ll be d*mned before I let someone like Firebomb beat me in the ring.Camera man: Well, good luck man.[Nate nods his head before walking out the door; heading off for the challenge he must face in the ring and the challenge that he now must face at home.]
