[Any great soldier knows that in order to get to the major, epic battle, you must first fight several smaller but still important skirmishes. At least, this is the thought process of Wacko Carl as he starts to focus on the matter at hand: a one-on-one encounter with Vauxhall at the second edition of Southern Dynamite on Versus. In order to continue on their path towards their rematch and redemption, Carl and his partner Extreme Beavis must stay vigilant, stay on the offensive and most importantly stay on the winning track.] 1/20/10 Fayetteville, AR Boys and Girls Club ***************** [The New Level has made their standard trek from their homes in North Carolina to their competitive residence of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Beavis drives their rent-a-car as they pull into a very familiar apartment complex instead of the hotel that they usually stay at. Beavis parks the car and the two men pile out.]EB: So why are Doug and Tiffany letting us stay here whenever we’re in town now?WC: Doug said something about Tiffany feeling bad that we’d always pay for a room instead of just staying here for free.EB: Well, it works for me. I just hope they don’t keep us awake all night with their “noise.”WC: She’s pregnant, dude!EB: So what? That doesn’t mean anything. You can still do stuff; just not as easy.WC: Just shut up and open the trunk.[Beavis shrugs and pops the trunk open. Each man reaches in and grabs their bags. They proceed up the stairs as Carl goes to knock. Beavis just puts his hand up, reaches into his pocket and pulls out a key.]WC: Where did you get that?EB: Tiffany sent it to us.WC: Why didn’t I know about this?EB: What’s it matter? We can go right in now.[Beavis smiles, turns the key in the lock and opens the door. His amused demeanor turns to one of shock as his eyes grow wide. After standing in the doorway for a moment with this look on his face, he quickly closes the door back up. Carl’s right eyebrow rises after having witnessed this.]WC: What? Are they home or not?[Beavis turns to his partner; nodding in confirmation.]WC: Shouldn’t we go in then?[Beavis shakes his head “no.”]WC: And why not?[Beavis grimaces before lowering his head. Carl just puts his right hand to his face and starts shaking his head.]WC: So they’re both in there right now…[Beavis shrugs.]EB: Well, actually…she’s doing everything.[Carl yells out and shakes his head more vigorously. Beavis turns the key back to the locked position then puts the key back in his pocket.]EB: Maybe we should go cut that promo first?WC: Good idea.[The two men quickly run back down the stairs, throw their bags in the backseat and Beavis starts the ignition as Carl climbs into the passenger seat. They drive off towards the Boys and Girls Club.]WC: So did they say or do anything when you walked in?EB: Well, Doug was surprised.WC: So, were they-EB: (interrupting) Would you just get this out of your mind and focus on your match?WC: Alright, man. Are you okay?EB: JUST SHUT UP![Carl starts to chuckle as he sees the reaction to his partner after what he just saw.]EB: So are you ready for Vauxhall or not?WC: Ready isn’t the word for it man. As an opponent, I’m MEANT for Vauxhall. I’m meant to demean and destroy him as well as show him what a powerhouse is supposed to be.EB: That’s a hell of an attitude to have.WC: Considering he’s one of the guys who took…no, stole our belts just last month, I’m surprised you’re not as determined as I am.EB: Until I see my name on the marquee with either Johnny Boy or Kung Vaux on the other side, I’ll be busy gearing up for the rematch.WC: Good because when we get there, with what we have in store for those two clowns, we have to be 100 percent committed to beating them. That includes preparing right, that includes staying healthy and that especially includes using any and every opportunity to prove our dominance over them before we even get to High Stakes.EB: So did Ben and AJ sign off on our idea yet?WC: There’s still a lot of legal hoops to jump through. We’re asking for a very violent, very physical match and they’re still weary of such matches since HJ is still fresh in their mind.EB: True. You know, I didn’t want to bring it up because I do want you concentrating on your match but…can you believe what HJ’s been doing with that Creed guy lately?[Carl sighs and shakes his head; obviously disappointed.]WC: I really wish that he would’ve stayed retired or at least turnover a new leaf when we kicked him out. I guess he just figured out new ways to be an even greater monster.EB: Yeah I know.[Carl takes a deep breath.]WC: Let’s get some tunes to get us back in the fighting mood.EB: Yeah.[Carl turns the radio knob and “Epic” by Faith No More blares throughout the car. It plays them into the parking lot of the Boys and Girls Club; the camera crew waiting for them at the entrance. The two men pile out of the car and meet up with the crew.]Camera man: Hey guys, thanks for coming.WC: No problem. Everything all set?Camera man: Yep, just follow me.[The camera man motions towards the hallway where the camera’s set up. They enter the building but before proceeding to the camera, Carl stops Beavis.]WC: How about you go get some time in at the gym?EB: Are you sure?WC: Yeah, I got this.[Beavis just shrugs and pats his partner on the shoulder.]EB: Alright man, I’ll see you in a few then.[Beavis walks off towards the gym while Carl turns around and proceeds to the camera. He crosses his arms as the camera man counts him down; beginning his promo when the red record light turns on.]WC: “A new level of confidence and power.”[Carl smiles.]WC: Or so goes our theme song. Being a fan of Pantera, it seemed as the perfect fit to our new team name when Beavis and I dropped our Disciples nomenclature. Since that time, we’ve proven each and every time we’ve stepped into that ring that it’s not just a fancy name but that we are the New Level of professional wrestling. The New Downward Spiral; the former Southern Heritage Champion the Phil; Pain & Suffering; Excessive Force; at the last show Climax of the Night; we’ve defeated all of them and everyone else who got in our way in RCW…[Carl raises his right arm and brings up his index finger.]WC: …save one. Only one team has eluded joining this list we’ve compiled since we began our tenure in RCW. It’s not hard to figure out who this team would be as they’re the ones who currently, albeit temporarily, hold our Hog Wild Tag Team Titles. The team collectively known as High Society.[Carl lowers his finger and re-crosses his arms.]WC: Soon enough, we’ll get our second chance; our rematch. When we do, we’ll show just how lucky the Brits were in our first encounter. Once we again compete for the most prestigious tag team titles in this country, we’ll show that the only team fit to carry those titles is an American team.[Carl’s smile fades and a look of determination replaces it.]WC: But that’s a matter for a later time. For this week, I’m concerned with the first skirmish on the way to that later time: my one-on-one match against Vauxhall. It’s obvious to me why we’ve been matched up as we’re the power portions of our team. The main difference is that whereas I can use my brain power as well as an aerial assault to defeat my opponents, you, Vauxhall, are one brain cell short of being named Baby Huey. Sure, you have impressive skills in the ring but you require someone, anyone, to tell you how to use them. In this case, it’s either your partner Jonathan Page or your new PR rep. They tell you when to wrestle, how to wrestle, when to speak, how to speak, when to eat, what to eat and even when and how to do your “business.” You’re capacity for independent thought is so narrow that you’re like Alex Karras in “Blazing Saddles.”[Carl puts a mocking, low brow look on his face and motions like he’s opening a candy box.]WC: [in a mocking tone] Mongo like candy![Carl smiles as he rests his hands on his hips.]WC: But I digress. The fact is that you’re a naïve, young man, Vauxhall. You’re new to this industry and feel the need to rely on others for supposed help even if they rely more on you. Your raw strength has been a great asset to your team but Page’s supposed “superior mind” has let both you and him down. He’s already proven that if not for you that he would be nothing but a bottom feeder in this company. He knows it but his egotism will never allow him to admit it and I fear that your naiveté will never allow you to realize it.[Carl strokes at his goatee for a moment before continuing.]WC: That’s why this match is important to all involved, Vauxhall. It’s time to show you what I already know inside that ring. You and Page each supposedly need each other to succeed. You can’t function without his direction and he can’t survive without your brute strength. When you’re separated, by injury, the Atlantic Ocean or by the basic rules of a match, you both fall apart. Page has proven this; you will prove it at Southern Dynamite. Sure, my partner and I are well-known as tag team specialists and it’s obvious to see why. The only thing is this: we’re not JUST tag team wrestlers; we’re all around wrestlers. We’ve proven that we can not only survive but thrive in one-on-one settings and I will continue to prove it once we lock up in this very building, Vauxhall. I can use my strength, my ring savvy or even my high-flying capabilities to win my matches and I guarantee you that Beavis would say the same thing. Most likely not in that order but those three factors nonetheless. Beavis doesn’t have to rely on me nor me on him when we compete in a one-on-one environment. We get the job done on our own merits. Can you say the same thing, Vauxhall? In fact, if memory serves, you haven’t had even one singles match since debuting in RCW. Could it be that you’re too busy or that my words ring true and you’re afraid of what’ll happen if you don’t have Page in your corner; ready for the tag?[Carl smiles again.]WC: We’ll soon find out. And as soon as Ben and AJ sign off on the paperwork, our rematch shall be official for High Stakes. However, in the meantime, I have a few questions for you, Vauxhall. Obviously, RCW has gotten a lot more face time thanks to Southern Dynamite being on Versus but do you think the fans will even care about you? Do you think they cared that neither you nor Page were on our debut show last week? Do you think they even noticed? Or do you think they were more impressed with the former and soon-to-be-again champions beat the brash team of newcomers? How do you think that rests on their minds where the champs weren’t willing to appear and yet the superior team was? For this week, what do you think the people will think of you when they see the powerhouse of the champs get embarrassed on their TV screens by a slightly smaller but more dominant competitor? And finally, most importantly, do you think anyone will be surprised when after High Stakes the Hog Wild Tag Team Titles will once again be around the waists of the New Level? Vauxhall, I hope you have the mental capacity to think about this long and hard because each question shall be answered as Beavis and I shut you and Page down; one skirmish after another; proving who the real champions are in the RCW tag team division. See you soon, Vauxhall. Get ready for war.[The camera cuts, Carl shakes the hands of each crew member and walks off to find his partner in the gym.]Later that night… [For the second time on this day, Carl and Beavis pull into the parking lot of Doug and Tiffany’s apartment complex. Again they grab their bags and again they walk up to the door. This time, Beavis decides to, carefully, knock on the door. Through the door a female voice saying “Come in” can be heard. Beavis breathes deeply as he opens the door; discovering Doug sitting in front of the TV with a drink in his hand; the pregnant Tiffany setting the small dinner table. Tiffany sees her two fellow 7 Day Army members standing in the doorway and smiles.]Tiffany: Hey guys! Glad you could make it.[Carefully, Tiffany walks over and wraps her arms around Beavis. Beavis and Doug look at each other; Doug having to turn back towards the TV to hold in his laughter. Carl walks into the apartment and Tiffany kisses him on the cheek. Beavis grimaces at the site of this and starts rubbing at his own face.]Tiffany: Did you guys have any problems on the way? I was expecting you much sooner.[Carl and Beavis quickly look at each other before vehemently shaking their heads “no.”]EB: Nope, just had…other things to do.WC: Yeah, I had a promo to cut and then we worked out afterwards.Tiffany: Oh I see. Well, I guess you can set your things next to the couch as you’ll be out here. I’d give up the bed but…you know.[Tiffany looks down at her large stomach and rubs it.]WC: It’s no problem. Considering it’s free, it’s pretty awesome.Tiffany: Good, I’m glad. I’ll go grab you guys some sheets and then we can eat.EB: I’ll help.[Tiffany and Beavis proceed into the bedroom as Carl walks over to the couch and sits down next to Doug.]WC: What’s the good word man?DG: Just hanging out till tomorrow. You? WC: Getting geared up for Vauxhall.[Doug nods his head.]WC: Did you hear anything new from Nate?DG: No, he’s pretty shook up which is understandable. WC: I’ll bet.DG: Well, I guess there’s nothing we can do right now. Creed’s got that restraining order to hide behind and no one has a clue where they’re keeping Maya. Just have to hope she can hold out. [Begrudgingly, Carl shakes his head in agreement.]DG: Let’s go eat then. I’m sure you guys are hungry. WC: You got that right…[They both stand up and Doug makes his way to the table.]WC: …and I guess Tiffany was, too.[Doug just turns around, smiles and presents a hand gesture to Carl. Carl flashes one of his own and the two men sit down at the table; Tiffany and Beavis joining them after setting the bed sheets down beside the couch.]
