[Inside the apartment of the RCW Southern Heritage Champion, Doug Gavelon smiles into the recording handheld camera that’s facing him. He licks his lips before he begins.]
DG: On the eve of High Stakes, RCW’s first foray into pay-per-view, a champion who is being chased by two hungry challengers with an even hungrier bottom dweller waiting for him at the Boys and Girls Club…and yet the champion is smiling. Why? Why not? Not only is everything going well for me but well for my allies as well. Tiffany and I are expecting our first child soon. I remain the Southern Heritage Champion. Nate still has a firm grasp on the Natural Title. The New Level are on their way to a second reign as tag champions. Things are great for the 7 Day Army.
[Doug shifts his head to the side as he takes a moment to think about something.]
DG: Heck, even RCW is doing great. Like I said, we’re on pay-per-view, we’re on Versus and we also have two fresh, young, hungry faces looking to grasp at the brass ring and challenge for the Southern Heritage Title. I am speaking of both Vash and E.B. Marcus. When I first won this title, I said that I would bring about an era when the truly deserving would get their just due. That is now happening. I wish luck to both competitors in the finals of the SCC at Southern Dynamite…
[The smile quickly fades from Doug’s face.]
DG: …but don’t expect such feelings when High Stakes rolls around. As for my opponent this week, Lee Jackson, I know of the old adage “anything can happen inside the squared circle” but don’t expect that to happen in your case. I’m the Southern Heritage Champion and you’re an Xtra Large misfit. You can show all the pride you want in your lifestyle and your women but they won’t help you in our match nor have they ever helped you to begin with. I will enter that ring at Southern Dynamite, drop you on your head and continue on my way to High Stakes and to someone who truly deserves a title shot. You are but a warm up for the more important things in my life. You are but another bump in the road for the only wrestler that matters. You’re a second thought on the mind of the Burning Hammer. Lee Jackson, no matter how highly you think of yourself, you shall prove as a non-entity, a non threat, to Doug Gavelon.
[Doug reaches out and turns off the camera.]
