[Inside a cramped apartment lives the RCW Southern Heritage Champion Doug Gavelon. Many would think that he’d buy into a luxurious mansion with all of his money but even Doug would admit that he’s not that kind of person. He spends as little as possible, loves his family, friends and fans and works hard to stay at the top of the mountain. However, as he approaches another tough challenge against new Natural Champion Vash, his mind is partially elsewhere at this very moment. This is confounded by Tiffany as she walks by him; setting up the camera; preparing for the promo to come. Tiffany stands in front of her lover as he lifts up her shirt and runs his hands over her belly.][She simply smiles as he tenderly kisses it. He looks up at her with a delighted look in his eyes.]DG: It’s getting bigger and bigger.
Tiffany: Should be any day now.DG: Hope I can get him a big win against Vash.
Tiffany: Oh, you so will, honey. Let’s just hope the baby and Vash only have one thing in common.[Doug looks at his love in confusion.]DG: That is?
Tiffany: Neither of them will be talking anytime soon.[Both lovers burst out laughing. Doug gets to his feet to hold her closer; they kiss.]Tiffany: So was I right and Vash has yet to speak on your match?DG: Pretty much. He still thinks this “silent killer” thing will lead him to greener pastures.
Tiffany: It did lead him to the Natural Title.[Doug’s look turns to that of annoyance; Tiffany looks on in a devilish way.]DG: You know as well as I do that he only got that belt, that belt that I held so proudly for so long, because that punk Hollywood laid down and gave Vash the title.
Tiffany: Good point. Still, he does have it.DG: Yeah and he certainly deserves it but the way he won it is not just a sham but spits on everything that a champion is supposed to stand for. I’ll remember that at the show and I’ll beat some respect into that kid.
Tiffany: Well, I’ll let you get to work then. I know you need to have your say before Southern Dynamite rolls around.[Doug nods his head as Tiffany turns and makes her way towards the kitchen.]DG: Try not to baby my boy too much while I do.
[Tiffany turns around and sticks her tongue out.]Tiffany: I’m going to show HER how a stove works since she’ll probably fall for a guy who can’t cook.DG: Hey! That toast was edible.
Tiffany: It was on fire!DG: I put it out.
[Tiffany just rolls her eyes as she further moves into the bedroom; closing the door behind her. Doug turns back to the camera; pressing the red button; sitting back down on the couch to conduct his promo in preparation for his match against Vash. Before he does, a thought crosses his mind.]~You know, just for the hell of it, I’d better check to see if Vash actually spoke up on this occasion.~[Doug reaches out and turns on the TV. He turns it to Versus and has to chuckle to himself as he sees Vash staring right back at him. He shrugs as he wipes at his face.]DG: What a surprise: the boy actually speaks for once. He must be taking this match seriously.
[Doug reaches back out and turns the camera off.]Several minutes later…
[The camera fades up from black as Doug sits back on the couch; giving a confident look into the camera.]DG: So, it seems that Ben and AJ, despite the rumblings of others, certainly know how to build a great main event. I mean, who better to top the card than the two men who tore down the house at High Stakes in what should be considered one of the hardest hitting, fast-paced, technical matches witnessed in recent history. Not only that, but it’s now a champion vs. champion affair thanks to that idiocy displayed by Jeffrey Hollywood last week. Now, don’t get me wrong; Vash, you deserve to be a champion and I like nothing more than seeing Hollywood lying on his back as it means he’s proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he’s not as good as he thinks or says he is.
DG: However, not even you, Vash, can be truly proud of how you won that title. You’re a true competitor who lives for the high profile match where you fight and claw, tooth and nail, to prove yourself the better man. Allowing someone to lay down for you, while providing a much easier night, just isn’t what you’re supposed to be about, it sure as hell isn’t what I’m about and it definitely isn’t the course of action pursued by any true athlete in this sport. You made a mockery out of that belt and this company by taking that belt the way you did and you know it. Sure, on the outside, you’ll parade it all around town; like you actually accomplished something major. The problem is that, deep down, you know that by allowing Hollywood to lay down for you made the Natural Title seem worthless in stature. Many great athletes have given their all for that belt and you’ve disrespected them in the greatest way possible.
[Doug looks off camera as another thought comes to his mind. He shrugs it off as he stares back into the camera.]DG: Still, you may become a presentable champion. In fact, you may have a long and glorious reign that people can be proud of. No matter…you’re still right where you should be because as special as it was for me to hold the RCW Natural Title, it’s nowhere near as special as being recognized as the RCW Southern Heritage Champion; to hold, in fact, the most prestigious title in our industry. You spoke of how you nearly defeated me for the title at High Stakes and that’s the truth; you pushed me to my limits on that night. Of course, this match is non-title. Had they asked me for my opinion, I would’ve told Ben and AJ that I’d be glad to defend the belt. However, a non-title affair will serve just as well as it’s important to note all of the top competitors you’ve defeated since High Stakes.
[Doug leans forward and tilts his head to the side as he thinks over Vash’s opponents during the past month.]DG: Let’s see: you beat Mikey in a regular match up and in that Fans Bring the Weapons Match.
[Doug raises his right index finger as if to “mark it off.”]DG: You lost in that battle royal and were eliminated by Mikey if I’m not mistaken.
[Doug raises his middle finger at this point.]DG: And of course, your abomination of a title victory last week over Jeffrey Hollywood. Ummm…yeah, that’s it: three real matches; two wins; same opponent in each case.
[Doug then folds his hands together as he looks back into the camera once more.]DG: You know, I’ve gone over the Mikey speech before; how he was a great competitor but wasn’t a top competitor; how he hadn’t been in that category in a long time; how more was needed for a title shot than just defeating the crazy mute. In fact, I ran this speech by the so-called Perfect Weapon Ase before he and I walked into Hell on Earth. He was another individual who held himself in high regard. Unlike you, Vash, he had a long and illustrious career but that’s unimportant at this point. He also pushed me to limits I didn’t think possible and nearly put my shoulders to the mat. But do you know what happened in the end, Vash? I’m sure you do as anyone who’s anyone ordered Hog Heaven but let me just refresh your memory: he quit. I beat Ase down so bad that he had enough and submitted…for the first and last time in his career. I was the one who slay the beast; not Phil; not Mikey; certainly not Hollywood; me. I bring this up since none of these individuals could even come close to putting a dent in Ase’s armor; let alone pin him or force him to submit. So, Vash, let me ask you something: considering I just did what many considered the impossible, what makes you think you have any chance against me? Because of your youth? I’ve beaten younger and hungrier. Because you’re the other single’s champion in RCW? When I was Continental Champion in the old place, I defeated Grendel and stood atop of that company. Because you’ve associated yourself with Hollywood? He’s yet another individual who lay broken and defeated at my feet the last time I encountered him.
[Doug shakes his head.]DG: No, Vash, the result won’t be different in this match as you’ve accomplished very little since our match at High Stakes. At Southern Dynamite, champion vs. champion main event, you will still be the one to go down to defeat. I will either pin you a second time or I will put you in for Slow Death and force you to tap the mat as vigorously as you can. Your newfound title will be proven as the “secondary” title and your newfound allies will be left in shock that they’re supposed gene pool for glorious victory is but a pipe dream that’ll go down in flames when I get my hands on you. I shall prove who deserved to be champion at High Stakes and who deserved to “go back to the drawing board.” The answer won’t be any different from that night as it’ll still remain as Doug Gavelon at the top of the mountain.
[Doug wipes at his goatee; bringing a grin to his face.]DG: As for your thoughts on my compatriots in the 7DA, let me assure you that my mind is at peace. I know that Nate, Carl and Beavis all went down for what they believed in. Things didn’t end like any of us would’ve wanted but I know that I can’t rely on people forever; no matter how close we may be. So, Vash, go ahead and look to your new stable mates for guidance and a chance at victory because that chance will blow up in your face and your Bred for Glory allies will have to sit back and watch as it all happens again. When so many are concerned about what GROUP will take down BFG, I will show that ONE MAN can take down a hype machine; ONE MAN can stand against a legion; ONE MAN can take down BFG. Good luck at Southern Dynamite, Vash, as you’ll certainly need it. You’ll need all the luck in the world if you plan to stand toe-to-toe with the only champion that matters; the Burning Hammer; yours truly…Doug Gavelon.
[Doug reaches out and turns off the camera; walking back towards the bedroom. Suddenly, the door slams open and Tiffany staggers out in a daze. Doug helps her move with concern on his face.]DG: Are you okay, babe?
Tiffany: Doug, I know you have a very important match and I don’t want to distract you at all-DG: Don’t worry about that right now. Just tell me what’s wrong.
[Tiffany looks at Doug with a tear in her eye.]Tiffany: My water just broke.[Doug takes a deep breath before nodding his head.]DG: Okay, let’s go then. We have to get to the hospital fast.
[As Doug holds onto Tiff with one hand, he grabs her briefcase full of clothes with the other and helps her out the door. Gingerly, they make their way down to the car; placing the bag in the backseat as they do. Doug helps Tiffany into the passenger seat as she grabs at her belly.]Tiffany: I’m so sorry, Doug. I know how important this match is.DG: Hey, there are some things that are more important than wrestling; a newborn child being right at the top. We’ll get to the hospital and just go from there.
[Doug closes the passenger door and runs around to the driver’s side. He quickly climbs in and starts up the ignition.]Tiffany: But what if you can’t make it to the arena in time?DG: It’ll be a blow…but hey, I can always whip Vash’s a** later.
[Tiffany forces out a smile as the pain continues in her abdomen; the child within preparing to enter the world. Doug puts the car in gear and speeds off into a new chapter of his life.]
