Just two days after winning his big handicap match over Climax of th' Night and securing his spot in Razorback Championship Wrestling, Marcus has been called to do the Buddy The Happy Sea Urchin satellite radio show. Reluctantly he decides to honor the commitment and do the show.
Marcus and his agent Joey Sterling step out of Marcus' Mazda and make their way into the office building of Syrius Satellite Radio. Joey Sterling is wearing a pair of jeans, a red t-shirt, a black derby hat and sunglasses. Marcus has on a pair of mudwashed jeans, a grey pinstripe button up dress shirt, and mirrored sunglasses. The two men look determined but all together happy.
They walk in where the receptionists, an older lady with glasses and a pen stuck behind her ear, sits behind a big desk.
Receptionist: Can I help you gentlemen?
Joey: We're here to do a show with Buddy The Happy Sea Urchin.
Receptionist: Yes sir. He's on the sixth floor, third door on the left. Wait until the red light is off before entering.
Joey: Thanks.
Marcus and Joey make their way to the elevators and step in as the door pings open.
Marcus: I'm not really happy about this.
Joey: I don't like the guy either, but Buddy has over 300,000 listeners every morning.
Marcus: He's a douche that tries to be Howard Stern. Reminds me too much of Firebomb's agent Rob.
Joey: How do you know Rob?
Marcus: I don't really, just from what Drifter and Simon Terry have told me about him. I take that back Rob has twice the talent that Buddy has.
Joey: Look. This will be an easy gig. The guy will just ask you a few questions, you answer them, we plug this weeks Southern Dynamite and Unbroken, then we'll be out.
Marcus: I'm here aint I? But I'm telling you Joey, if this guy says one cross word, I'll rip him a new *sshole.
Joey: Just don't go in there picking fights.
Marcus: I'll be nice as long as this guy is.
The door pings again as it opens. The guys step out into the hallway and wait a few seconds until the red light goes off, then enters the room. Buddy, along with his production team and entourage are seated around the booth.
Buddy: Guys, come in. We're currently on a station break. You know running a couple of commercials, playing a couple of songs, then we'll be ready. Can I have someone get you guys anything?
Marcus: We're good. Thanks.
Buddy: There's a couple of headsets right there, you guys can put them on and have a seat across the desk there.
Joey: Thanks.
After a couple more minutes of waiting, the "ON AIR" sign comes on and Buddy starts back up with the show.
Buddy: We're back, and in the studio with us right now is Razorback Championship Wrestling superstar EB Marcus and his agent Joey...Sterling? Is that right?
Joey: That's right.
Buddy: Welcome to the show guys. Sorry guys, I guess I could have had Tommy pull up "Dirthouse", and you guys could have used your own theme music.
Joey: It's fine.
Buddy: We could also give you guys some smoke bombs and sparklers. Anything to make you feel at home. We could have Susie oil you up.
Marcus: Not sure about the sparklers, but I'm game for the oiling.
Buddy: So, what should I call you? EB? Marcus? Early?
Marcus: Marcus is what most people call me.
Buddy: Cool. So Marcus, you have been back wrestling now for what 4 or 5 months. You came back off a big injury. How's that all going for you.
Marcus: Well, I had a few injuries that I had to take time to heal up. I did some soul searching, and I've been back and better than before for almost 4 months now.
Buddy: They can never bury a hillbilly like yourself.
Marcus gives Joey a glance. Joey just returns with a look of his own.
Marcus: Guess not.
Buddy: The reason I say hillbilly is because you are from a small town called Yocum Creek, Kentucky. How's that place?
Marcus: It's small. I'm currently not living in Kentucky anymore. I bought a house in Miami, Florida about six months ago, but I spend most of my time in an apartment in Little Rock, Arkansas. Yocum Creek though, definately has it's ups and downs.
Buddy: Not alot of strip clubs I bet.
Marcus: No. About the biggest establishment there is the local Wal-Mart.
Buddy: Not sure if I'd want to see hillbilly strippers anyway. So how's Arkansas right now?
Marcus: Wet mostly.
Buddy: Think that's half the Southern states right now.
Marcus: Travelling hasn't been fun, that's for sure.
Buddy: So, let's talk about some things. I heard that you were a big wrestling fan growing up, and with your dad being a wrestler, you ended up with alot of friends in the business. I know you're friends with Drifter. How's that?
Marcus: Drifter is a really great guy. He's done some work with RCW, I wish he had more time to spend in Arkansas. He just did a referee job in one of my matches.
Buddy: Yes, at Hog Heaven pay per view right?
Marcus: Yeah. Ended up being a big ending for him and for me.
Buddy: Another big match just a couple of days ago for you, that could have been the end of your career, against Cot'N. We watched that match earlier today online, and that was a big contraversial ending.
Marcus: Well, that was all Joey's idea. I can't take credit for that.
Buddy: Joey, you want to explain how that all went down.
Joey: Well, Buddy, Marcus was my first contract in RCW. I've been working in HWO for the last year and a half with the Memphis Mafia, and that ended up panning out due to injuries.
Buddy: Yourself right?
Joey: Yeah, I had to have some major knee surgery, but I was still working with some other talent. I was really quick to pick up new and young talent. Drifter was the one that introduced me to Marcus, and I saw what kind of talent he had. I later picked up contracts with Climax of th' Night and the O-Team.
Buddy: The O-Team, now there's some natural talent, but we'll get into that in just a little while.
Joey: The girls are definately beautiful. So it actually finally came down to what direction I wanted to go with. I felt like Marcus was the most talented of the group, and definately the easiest to work with. So the plan to get the girls to side with us, and get rid of Cot'N just came natural.
Buddy: So how'd that go down. Satin and Annie were the Climax guy's "girlfriends".
Joey: Everyone was on the payroll, Buddy. The girls are cool with whatever role they play. Whether it's arm candy for Drexl and Galen, or a part of the Marcus entourage.
Buddy: Nice entourage.
Marcus: I'd have to agree.
Buddy: So was David Baird a part of the plan?
Marcus: No David's injury was completely legit, it just came along at probably the worst time.
Buddy: It looked as though he was starting to take some steps forward in his career as well.
Marcus: David would definately still be by my side if not for his luck.
Buddy: So, is David really your cousin?
Marcus: Actually that's true, not just something we made up for better television. David is my mother's oldest sister's son, and we did grow up together. He was actually the one that talked me into buying my house in Miami.
Buddy: So did you guys fight as kids?
Marcus: Oh yeah, at least once a week.
Buddy: Who won?
Marcus: I did of course, and if you ever get David on the show, don't let him tell you anything else.
Buddy: So now there is no Elite group so to speak. So what's the next step? Where do you see yourself going from here?
Marcus: The gold is what wrestling is all about. People will lie and tell you it's not. People will say they don't care about championships, but that's not true. Everyone is here to win the titles. It's where the fame is at, it's where the money is at.
Buddy: Understandable.
Marcus: It's hard work to get to the top. Well, for most people anyway.
Buddy: I think I know what you are about to say, but let's hold that off for just a moment as we take a commercial break. We will be back in just a minute with more from EB Marcus and Joey Sterling.
The studio turns in to turmoil for a few moments of button pushing and such. Buddy has one of his staff members bring in a couple of bottles of water for Marcus and Joey. The guys take a breather, and the show comes back up.
Buddy: Okay, for those of you that are just tuning in with us, we've got EB Marcus and Joey Sterling of Razorback Championship Wrestling with us. Marcus, before the break you were telling us about the championship belts and where your own career is heading.
Marcus: I've got a match this week against the current Natural Champion, Vash.
Buddy: So, a title shot already?
Marcus: No, it's not for the title. Vash just got the belt. I'm sure they are holding off on making him defend it until Unbroken pay per view.
Buddy: I happen to see the match between Vash and Jeffrey Hollywood as well. I can say that Vash didn't do a whole lot to win that belt.
Marcus: That's true. I'm not going to do like Doug Gavelon though, and talk about how Vash doesn't deserve the title. The way he won it was a bit disturbing to guys like myself that work hard, but Vash is definately a force.
Buddy: So you are okay with Jeffrey Hollywood just handing the title over to Vash.
Marcus: I'm not saying that. Vash should have went through the channels just like the rest of us to even get a chance at the title, but Hollywood seems to be giving away titles all around now. While guys like myself, Creed Micheals, and newcomers like Alexander Rose are working are *sses off and have nothing to show for it. Yet, Vash joins up with Hollywoods little clique and is handed a belt right from the start. Same goes for CJ Swanson. He's handed a belt after only 3 weeks of being in RCW, just because he signed a deal with the devil.
Buddy: That devil being Jeffrey Hollywood?
Marcus: I've got respect for Jeffrey Hollywood. He's a hard worker for RCW. He does alot more than people give him credit for, but the people are growing tired of the same guys in the main events every week. The fans may not always love me, but they are going to be happy to see me and Vash this week, because it's at least a refreshing move for the top teir guys.
Buddy: So Vash did put you out of the Southern Championship Challenge, how's that going to effect your match this week.
Marcus: I wasn't at my best that week. It's just like in football Buddy, any given team can beat any other team on any given day. I'm not saying that I'm going to go in and run over Vash, but he's going to know I've been there.
Buddy: A win over him would be big for you.
Marcus: Personally and career wise. I'm sure if...when I beat Vash at Southern Dynamite, AJ and Ben have no choice but to put me in a title match for Unbroken.
Buddy: Unbroken....RCW's third pay per view since going national. This time you guys are moving out a little bit further. Is that a new trend?
Marcus: High Stakes was in Las Vegas, and I loved it. I'm sure most of the other guys did as well. It's really refreshing to us that RCW is travelling more, I for one think it's been far too long coming.
Buddy: RCW seems to me like a snowball rolling down hill, growing, and picking up speed.
Marcus: I couldn't have said it better myself. And when that snowball hits it's biggest ever, I will be proud to be one of the top guys in the company.
Buddy: So Southern Dynamite this week in Fayette, Arkansas and Unbroken pay per view in Pittsburg on May 23rd. Good luck at both. It's been great having you on.
Marcus: Thanks.
Buddy: And Joey.
Joey: Thanks Buddy.
Buddy: We've got to go to a commercial break, and when we get back, we're going to have more gossip from Hollywood, the city not the wrestler.
The station begins moving again. Joey and Marcus stand up and nod to Buddy as they exit the studio and make their way back onto the elevators.
Joey: See that wasn't so bad, was it?
Marcus: No, guess not.
Joey: I'm proud of you. You acted completely professional in there.
Marcus: Yeah. Don't expect that all the time.
Joey: I wouldn't dream of it. The guy has a bad reputation, and I'm sure he deserves it, but it was good for us and good for RCW.
The scene closes as the two men step onto the elevator and the doors close.

{Thursday evening finds Vash packing his bags to prepare for Southern Dynamite 60. Zolton looks on, wagging his tail, as Vash throws the last of his clothes into a duffel. He zips it closed, then grabs it as he strides out of his room and heads for his garage. Zolton follows closely behind as Vash walks into the garage and over to his Jaguar XK convertible. Vash tosses the duffel into the back of the car, then climbs in, Zolton jumping into the passenger's seat.}
Vash: “Well buddy, it's you and me for this weekend. Fayetteville, here we come.”
{Vash hits the accelerator and takes off down the back roads to Lee C. Fine Airport. He pulls into a reserved spot and jumps out with his bag, Zolton right on his heels. The two board a nearby waiting private jet and sit back to enjoy their flight. The captain boards the plane and walks back to greet them.}
Captain: “Vash, Sir, and Zolton, welcome aboard again. Weather patterns seem quite agreeable today, should be a nice smooth ride. I've brought an attendant to take care of you during the flight, she's preparing a drink for you right now.”
{The captain looks over his shoulder and sees his co-pilot board.}
Captain: “Looks like my co-pilot just finished his double check of my check-walk, so we'll get underway. Enjoy your flight, Sir.”
{The captain turns and walks to the cockpit. A few moments later an attractive young lady in a short, tight dress walks up to Vash with a drink on a tray.}
Attendant: “Hello, Sir. My name is Gwen. I'll be making sure your needs are taken care of during your flight today. Would you like a Jack and Coke?”
{Vash looks the girl up and down with a bit of a wolfish grin, then takes the drink from her.}
Vash: “Why thank you, my dear. And could you possibly get a bowl of water for Zolton here? I also believe we have a dog bed stored in the back of the plane somewhere if you wouldn't mind digging that out and bringing it up here. Once you're done, feel free to have a seat with us.”
{Gwen glances over at Zolton standing next to Vash's seat and smiles.}
Gwen: “Of course, Sir. I'll do that right away, and also I'll bring a selection of movies for us to watch.”
{Gwen walks to the back of the plane, Vash watching her carefully as she goes. He grins over at Zolton as the dog tilts his head.}
Vash: “Yes, I'd say it's going to be a lovely day of travel, don't you agree, boy?”
{Zolton barks once then starts turning circles as Gwen makes her way back with a bed for him. She places it on the floor at Vash's feet and Zolton lays down in it contentedly. Gwen takes a seat next to Vash as he looks over the list of available movies.}
{Several hours later the captain grabs the intercom.}
Captain: “Hope you all enjoyed your flight, please prepare for our landing.”
{As the plane begins its decent, Vash is busy making out with Gwen, who is no longer in her own seat but sitting in his lap. Zolton is still laying in his bed, watching with disinterest as he drifts in and out of sleep. As Vash and Gwen kiss, they knock over empty glasses and bottles sitting on a nearby table. Zolton jumps up from his bed, sniffs the fallen bottles and glasses, then drags his bed toward the back of the plane. In a few minutes, the plane lands safely, and the captain walks out of the cockpit. He stops and stares for a moment, then clears his throat. Gwen stops and looks up at the captain, then quickly jumps up and starts to clean up the mess. Vash just smiles as he watches her bend over, then looks up at the captain.}
Captain: “I see you approve of my choice of attendant, Sir. I trust your flight was pleasant?”
Vash: “Yes, it was a VERY pleasant flight. I'd like to hire her for all our flights from now on. Thanks again, Frank. Enjoy yourself until Saturday.”
{Captain Frank exits the plane as Gwen makes her way over to Vash.}
Gwen: “I've got everything cleaned up. Do you have anything you need assitance with as you disembark?”
Vash: “Just grab Zolton's bed, we'll need it at the hotel. You'll help me get settled in, right?”
Gwen: “If that's what you would like. It's my job to make sure you are happy during your trip.”
{As the two make their way off the plane, Vash notices a RCW camera crew waiting on the tarmac, cameras rolling. He looks annoyed and frustrated for a moment, then smooths on a smile.}
Vash: “Well hello, boys. Nice to see you as always, but I was wondering if you all could catch up with me later. As you can see, I've just stepped off the plane and it'd be really nice to have time to freshen up. Meet me up at my hotel room in about three hours.”
{Vash walks away with Zolton and Gwen in tow as the camera zooms in on them, then cuts. A few hours later the crew makes its way to a multi-room suite at the Fayetteville Staybridge Suites. They knock and are let in by Vash, who is in a blue unbuttoned dress shirt and jeans. He walks into the den area and sits down. The crew sets up and starts rolling, while Vash flips the TV on for a moment. The screen shows a celebrity gossip program with footage of Vash exiting the plane in the company of Gwen. Vash flicks the TV off and glances over at the camera.}
Vash: “Welcome back boys. Well just look at that, looks as though I've been caught red-handed, eh? Such scandalous behavior, especially for the RCW Natural Champion. I know what you're all thinking, 'What would Rae say?' I can tell you. Nothing at all. She knows how I operate. I have always done whatever makes me happy, whatever brings me the greatest pleasure in life. I am superior to everyone else, so therefore my view of morality is the only one that matters. So I will continue to do as I wish, when I wish. Rae and I have an understanding about all this.”
{Vash leans back in his armchair and looks intently at the camera.}
Vash: “Marcus, that is why I now have this title. I am better than you. I am on a level that you can't even begin to reach. So is Hollywood, and every other member of Bred for Glory. Because of this, we do things as we see fit. God has allowed us a heightened sense of right and wrong, and people like you and the general viewing audience of RCW just don't understand. It is beyond your ability to comprehend.”
“Everyone is saying that I did little or nothing to earn this title. I feel I've done more than a lot of the men who have held it. I came in to this company and dominated and destroyed those that were unworthy to be here. I've gone toe-to-toe with the best this company has to offer as well. I've taken them to the limit. Now I'm sitting high, right where I deserve to be.”
{Vash grabs a bottle of Jack that's nearby and takes a drink, then smiles wickedly at the camera.}
Vash: “Many of you don't think I deserve this title.
{Vash reaches behind his armchair and pulls up the Natural Title, draping it over his shoulder.}
Vash: “I can assure you, I have fully done all I needed to do to earn this title. I would have to say I work just as hard, possibly even harder than any of the new 'up-and-comers'. Hollywood may have laid down in that match, but it was not 'just handed' to me. I had to prove my worth. I had to earn it. Why don't any of you 'hard workers' have titles? Because you didn't earn them. None of you deserve it. Once one of you can beat me in one-on-one competition without any help from outside forces, maybe I'll consider you worthy of a shot at my title. Until then, I am going to continue my reign as the greatest Natural Champion in RCW history. Why am I the greatest? Because I am better than all of you. I am superior. You will never be able to achieve what I have.”
“Marcus, you've said yourself that the fans are tired of seeing the same people in the main events. They are tired of seeing the same matches over and over. We have history, Marcus. I'm really looking forward to meeting you one on one. You say that last time we met you had an off night. You seem to be feeling really good about yourself right now. You look like you're in good shape. So this Friday night, I'm asking you to bring it. No excuses. No regrets. You've shown you're the man to beat out of your dissolved 'Elite'. So I want you to walk into that ring, face me like a man, and give me all you've got. We'll give an awesome show, a fitting main event for SD 60. But I promise you, no matter how hard you fight, no matter how much heart and soul you put into this match, there's no way you're walking out the winner. I will be victorious. I will be the last man standing. There is nothing you can do to change your fate. So just do me a favor, Marcus. Take it like a man.”
{Vash's smile grows even bigger as he laughs evilly, and takes another drink from his bottle, then motions for them to shut the cameras off.}
