A single red leather chair sits by a large fireplace. The room is only lit by the fire. A small wooden table sits next to the chair. On top of the table is a small metal bucket filled with ice, a red leather book and a small crystal glass. Soft music begins to play in the background and for a few moments nothing happens. As the waldstein begins to pick up a large well dressed man walks up to the table with a bottle in his hand . He slowly opens the bottle and pours the red liquid into the glass. He places the bottle into the bucket of ice. He holds the glass for a moment swirling the red liquid in the glass. He takes a small sip before placing the glass down next to the ice bucket. The tall man slowly turn and sits in the chair. He puts his head back for a moment listening to the music.
Scotty: Beethoven has always been my favorite composer. The man is a genius.
Scotty stops talking again for a moment. He reaches to his side and takes the book from its position. He flips a few pages and gets a smile on his face.
Scotty: O yes, this is a perfect one for this occasion.
Scotty clears his voice for a moment.
Scotty: Hide not your talents, they for use were made. What's a sun-dial in the shade?
Scotty closes the book and places it down on his lap.
Scotty: Benjamin Franklin, one of the greatest American men to ever live. But what does this quote have to do with wrestling?
Scotty laughs for a moment
Scotty: It is simple really. Every time I come into a new wrestling promotion……
Scotty pauses for a moment
Scotty: And there have been many. I always get the same reaction. Scotty you should really not try to out shine the champions here. You should really understand that this is a work in progress. We can’t have some new guy walk in and out shine everyone. How would that make our top guys look. That’s just not how it is done around here.
Scotty pauses again for a moment and gets a smirk on his face.
Scotty: I always nod my little head and agree with them. Then when match time comes I always go out and dominate everyone in front of me. I always put on the best match of the night and I always impress the people in the audience.
Scotty pauses again and once again chuckles a little bit.
Scotty: Not that it is a hard thing to do to impress most wrestling fans now a day.
Scotty reaches over and takes another small sip from his glass.
Scotty: But back to the point. I can’t hide what I am able to do in the ring. Why would I want to? I have trained every day of my life to be at the level I am at now. Why would I want to squander all that hard work just to make other people look good? Why would I waste my natural ability and talent?
Scotty pauses for a moment.
Scotty: Its quiet simple gentalman. I have been put in a test match lets say. A match with people who the company has little faith in. Why is that? Why am I in a match with people who might not even be here for the next series of shows? Why am I in a match with people who might not even show up to the building?
Scotty takes another drink.
Scotty: Do I care about the two men I am facing? No I do not, and by the sounds of it neither do the company. So I am going to go out there and I am going to dominate just like I always do. I am going to show this company that I deserve bigger and better then two men who are on there way out of the company maybe.
Scotty takes the glass again and takes one last long drink. He looks at the glass for a moment and quickly throws it into the fire place.
Scotty: Mr. Straven, Mr. Sanders….its time gentleman. It’s time to step up and to tap out.
Scotty slowly walks away from the chair just as the song in the background is ending.
