Now that the Climax of th' Night are out of his way, it seems that EB Marcus is a bit more free. First he gains a victory over the Natural Champion Vash. Then he goes toe to toe with Alexander Rose. That leads the three of them to a match at Unbroken for the Natural Championship. Marcus has a way of choking during the big events. It's possible that this could all happen again. It's possible though, that this could be his first championship in RCW as well.
Today, Marcus and Joey Sterling at at the local Boys and Girls Club, this time enjoying the basketball court. Obviously, with Sterling's leg they aren't playing a game of one on one. They are simply practicing free throws. Just two guys out to enjoy the day, get a bit of exercise, and workout before taking their flight out. Both men are dressed in a pair of windpants and wifebeater t-shirts.
Marcus: So the flight is at 7:00 am in the morning right?
Joey: Yep. And as soon as we get there, I've got a few photo opportunities for you.
Marcus: Sounds like a plan.
Joey: Also, No Fear energy drink is wanting to get some photos. They are wanting to put you on their cans.
Marcus: That pay good.
Joey: They are going to pay us $14,000 up front. It's a pretty good deal for someone who hasn't won a World title or anything. No offense.
Marcus: None taken, and that will all change.
Joey: I hope so, cause that's the other half of it. They are paying us $14,000 but they'll give us another $10 grand if you win the Natural title at Unbroken.
Marcus: Thanks alot man, don't give me any pressure or anything. It's not like I had enough already.
Joey: Sorry man. I guess I could have waited til' after Unbroken to tell you that.
Marcus: Nah, that'll just give me all the more reason to go in there and give it my all.
Joey: It's not like you can't do it. You've beaten Vash already, and you went to toe to toe with Alexander Rose.
Marcus: But not both at the same time.
Joey: It's nothing man. Remember Vash will be the one with the target on his back. All you have to do is take it slow. Come at them hard when the time comes and get the pin. Viola', you're the new Natural Champion.
Marcus: Oh....well if it's that simple, then I shouldn't even bother with the training in Pittsburg.
Joey: Don't be a smart*ss.
Joey shoots a few freethrows, then passes the ball to Marcus, who does the same.
Marcus: We still lined up.
Joey: I sent Tommy a ticket to Penn last week. Good thing you have so many connections.
Marcus: I just figured training with a former world champion would be a step in the right direction. Living less than a block away from the guy didn't hurt anything either.
Joey: Guess not. So Kurinto has been out of the business for awhile now, what's he been up to?
Marcus: He did some acting. Nothing major. He's helping Drifter train some new kids from time to time. I think he's mostly just enjoying his family. The guy has two kids and one on the way.
Joey: Guess that's why he was so quick to jump on the $3,000 that I offered for the training.
Marcus: Diapers can get expensive, so I've been told.
Joey: Me and the old lady only have one. I can imagine if we had three.
Marcus: Not my bag. Not right now anyway. I'm just going to focus on my career.
Joey: Nah. The world keeps turning either way. Having a kid puts life in a whole new perspective though. It's like yourself doesn't even matter anymore. Everything you do it for that kid. It starts about 5 seconds after the thing pops out of the belly. Hadn't even got the nasty stuff off of them yet.
Marcus: Nice mental picture.
Joey: It'll never even bother you.
Marcus: Sorry Joey, I hate to cut this short, but I've got to take care of some stuff in Arkansas before I hit that flight. Plus I want to get some sleep. Won't be enough time on the flight to catch sleep, and I'm sure once I get there I won't get near the rest I need.
Joey: It's cool. Look, as soon as I get that check from No Fear, I've got some ideas I want to run by you with some of the money.
Marcus: That's what agents are for, spending your money before you even get it.
Joey: No, that's what wives are for. Agents just try to think of ways to spend money to make money. Just sometimes it doesn't work out.
Marcus: I hope so.
Marcus and Joey shoot a couple more baskets a piece then grab up their belongings and head out. From that, the scene ends.
