~Once again, Doug Gavelon has been met with a tough challenge and once again, Doug has been victorious. Doug's recent victory over Chris Sinclair has shown that not only is Doug a fighting champion but that he can put on a spectacular performance against any individual. This week, Doug is faced with another challenge in Chris Sinclair's on-again, off-again partner, Brett Johnson. While the match is non-title, does Brett have what it takes to earn a title match or will the Burning Hammer, once again, show his dominance? Soon enough, the answer will present itself.~

[Inside the apartment of Doug Gavelon, while Doug grabs his bag containing his training gear, Tiffany is busy on the phone. Doug is wearing a red t-shirt and his blue jeans while Tiffany sits at the desk with the phone, wearing a white t-shirt and pink shorts. She pulls back her hair as she gets ahold of someone at the other end.]Tiffany: Hi, I was wondering if I could get a reservation for tonight?...Around 7 o'clock?...Okay...Oh good...Two for Manchester...[As she says Doug's real last name, she turns to him and smiles which he returns in kind.]Tiffany: ...Okay, thanks a lot....Alright...Bye.[Tiffany hangs up the phone, rushes over and wraps her arms around Doug. She pulls back and kisses him.]Tiffany: I just got us reservations to "Shays."DG: That fancy French restaurant outside of town?
Tiffany: The very same.DG: That's awesome. It'll be good to eat out without having to see Josh's ugly mug.
[Both of them laugh to themselves about the comment.]Tiffany: I figure you can work up a pretty good appetite after your interview and your workout.DG: You've got that right.
[Tiffany lets go of Doug, goes over to the fridge and grabs an Aquafina water. Doug puts his bag down and looks to her.]DG: Hey, do you wanna come with me to the interview?
[Tiffany gets a shocked look on her face.]Tiffany: You mean, like, just for the drive?DG: No, I mean actually be with me during the interview.
Tiffany: Well, sure.DG: Yeah, it's not like we're a secret or I'm trying to hide you or anything.
Tiffany: Yeah, I know. It's just that now you're letting me train with you and sit in on your promos and even help out in your interviews. You never really did this before.DG: I just want you to be an even bigger part of my life. I figured doing more stuff with me during the preparation would do that. I know a lot of people have their families or loved ones just left in the background but we've been working out together, doing promos together, and now can do an interview together. It just makes me feel better knowing how much we do together and can enjoy ourselves.
[Tiffany walks back over to Doug with a smile on her face and they begin kissing passionately.]Tiffany: Okay, hon. I'll grab my stuff and come work out with you afterwards.DG: Sounds like a plan.
[Tiffany runs into the bedroom and starts grabbing her things. She soon comes out with her own bag as Doug opens the door for her. She walks out and he closes the door behind him. They walk down to Doug's Chevy Cobalt, throw their bags in the back seat as Tiffany climbs into the passenger's seat and Doug into the driver's seat and then they drive off towards the local YMCA.]Tiffany: So what's on tap for the interview?DG: Well, Bettie's gonna talk to us for a bit and then the crew's gonna film us working out, piece the footage together and air it on TV. You know, a little workout music video.
Tiffany: That sounds like fun. Kind of like stuff from the '80s.DG: Yeah, it's the best way to build someone, unlike another company where they'd throw a guy into a title match with no build whatsoever. Just to shock the people or some sh*t like that.
Tiffany: Sup?DG: eXactly.
Tiffany: So what do you think of this Johnson guy?[Doug starts to think to himself.]DG: He's got some talent, he's a pretty big guy but I don't think he has what it takes to make it past the mid-card.
Tiffany: And why's that?DG: Well, maybe the fact that he's lost more than he's won so far, including the last show.
Tiffany: So what else do you know about him?DG: Well, I know that he got beat down by Hollywood at the last show, I remember he had an okay showing in the Aerial Assault, and that he's been very hard to gauge in his latest promos. He spends less time talking about his opponent and more about his family matters or that school him and Sinclair belong to or whatever. The point is that he completely lacks focus and unless something major happens, he has no chance of beating me.
Tiffany: Good because that's exactly what you should be thinking. You've been doing so well since coming here.DG: I know. I mean, sure, I've had a few bumps in the road but RCW has completely revived my career. Well, that, and you.
[Doug quickly turns to Tiffany and she kisses him as he then quickly turns back to the road. They pull into the YMCA and see Bettie Lee Rose waiting with her camera crew. Both Doug and Tiffany grab their bags and proceed over to Bettie Lee.]BLR: Hey guys. Tiffany, I'm really glad to see you'll be in the interview.Tiffany: Thanks. I figured I'd come along and make sure you weren't putting the moves on my man.BLR: Oh my word![As Bettie looks on in shock, Tiffany just starts laughing before walking over and hugging her.]Tiffany: I'm just kidding, Bettie. I'm not the jealous type. At least I don't think I should be.[Tiffany looks behind her at Doug who just raises his hands.]DG: Hey, I'm not an idiot. I'm a one woman guy...unless we're talking 3 way.
[Doug gives a sly smile as Tiffany just shakes her head and rolls her eyes. Doug and Tiffany set up next to the YMCA's entrance and Bettie's crew finishes setting up their equipment. Bettie grabs a microphone and stands to the right of the couple. Doug stands with his right hand in his pocket and his left arm around Tiffany while she leans in on his left side with her arms wrapped around him. The crew finishes their preparations, the director starts his countdown and as he finishes, Bettie begins to speak.]BLR: Hello again, wrestling fans. This is your on-the-scene reporter, Bettie Lee Rose, who is once again with the RCW Natural Champion, Doug Gavelon. Doug isn't alone this time as he is with the quite lovely Tiffany. Why the change, Doug?DG: Well, like I was telling Tiff earlier, I just thought it'd be a great way to spend more time together by doing interviews or working out together. Besides, with a girl as beautiful as this, I just need to show off.
[Bettie and Doug laugh as Tiffany rolls her eyes and hides her head in Doug's chest before quickly turning her attention back to Bettie.]BLR: So, Doug, last time we were talking about your match with Chris Sinclair. That matchup was a very physical one. Were there any injuries or any problems coming out of the match?DG: There were no injuries and while it was annoying that I just couldn't put him down with the Burning Hammer or the Final Judgement, I did come out with the victory and my RCW Natural Title belt and that's all that matters.
BLR: At Southern Dynamite #20, you take on someone who's very familiar with Chris Sinclair and that's the "Crimson Dragon" Brett Johnson. Give us your thoughts on Brett.DG: I think he's got some good size and some skills but just isn't good enough to beat me this time around.
[Doug turns his attention to the camera.]DG: Let's face it, Brett, you'll be able to give me a great effort, there's no doubt about that, but that won't get you the win. You just lack focus. You, like Sinclair, seem more worried about that school or club or whatever the hell it is than actually competing and winning in RCW. Quite frankly, I think you need some more schooling instead of Rocky Malibu because, unlike you in RCW, Rocky has a winning record. Now, don't think that I'm just ragging on you for the hell of it, Brett, because I'm not doing that. All I'm saying is that you have a ton of talent and I think we'll have a great match but that you're just not ready to beat the RCW Natural Champion, non-title or not.
[Doug turns back to Bettie who has a look of surprise on her face due to Doug's seriousness.]BLR: So you don't feel like Brett Johnson is that big of a threat?[Doug just smiles at her.]DG: The way you say it makes it sounds like I'm completely burying the guy. What I'm saying is that he still needs fine tuning if he wants to make the next step and into the main event level of competition. Take his match at the last show with Hollywood: he made a great effort against Jeff but Jeff just always seemed to have things within his control. If you throw caution to the wind and attack with everything in your arsenal and your opponent is still able to handily defeat you, then you're just not ready to face top tier talent. It's not the nicest thing to say but I think it's something that Brett needs to hear. Maybe he lets these words sink in, learns from them and completely improves himself as an athlete. Hell, maybe he'll show everyone a major surprise and give me a run for my money, so I guess we'll just have to see.
BLR: In a major announcement during the week, Melvin Gates reported a round robin challenge between Brock Davids, Davey Boone and Chris Sinclair over the next few weeks with the winner getting a shot at your title at School of Hard Knocks. What are your thoughts on this 3 the Hard Way?DG: I think it's a great concept and a great way to find the hungriest challenger for my title. Of course, I defeated Sinclair in our great matchup at the last show and of course that great, hard fought match me and Brock had at the latest Hog Heaven in which I became the RCW Natural Champion. Davey Boone is still a fairly fresh face in RCW and now he's being given the opportunity to show what he truly has and make a run for the gold.
BLR: What are your predictions for the first matchup this week between Brock and Chris?DG: Brock definitely has the size advantage but Sinclair is very technically sound. I think it'll boil down to if Sinclair can frustrate and tire the bigger Brock. In the end, I see Sinclair getting the victory but just barely.
[Doug turns back to the camera with a smile and points with his right hand.]DG: Sorry, Brock.
[He turns back to Bettie and puts his hand back in his pocket.]BLR: Now, Tiffany, you and Doug have a ton of history together. What made you decide to give Doug a second chance?Tiffany: I realized after what went down a few years ago just how much I missed him. I don't think I ever stopped loving him, no matter what he was doing on TV. I'm sure many people are still unsure about his motivation but I, for one, am proud of him for the way that he's come to his senses.BLR: Many people have taken note of how you've been working out with Doug lately. Any thoughts of stepping into an RCW ring?[Tiffany laughs before answering the question.]Tiffany: I think I'll leave the wrestling to my man. I really don't think I could compete against men and there aren't really any women here anymore. Besides, at the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror and flash the guns.[Tiffany rolls up her sleeve and flexes her arm for the camera for a few moments before putting her right arm back around Doug with her left arm down at her side.]BLR: Oh my word. Looks like Doug is doing a great job of working you into shape.Tiffany: Yeah, but he doesn't always need a gym for that.[Doug and Tiffany lean in and kiss before turning their attention back to Bettie.]BLR: Oh my word!DG: Starting to sound like an echo out here.
[Bettie finally manages to collect herself.]BLR: One final question, Doug: since your debut, your popularity has grown by leaps and bounds. How has this effected you?[Doug just shrugs his shoulders.]DG: Not at all really. I'm a natural competitor and love what I do. I'd do it for free if I had to because I just love wrestling. I'm really glad though that the people have accepted me and am always glad to sign an autograph or take a picture.
BLR: Well, thank you, Doug.[Bettie turns her attention back to the camera.]BLR: This has been Bettie Lee Rose alongside Doug Gavelon and Tiffany, signing off.[The camera man signals cut as Bettie, Doug and Tiffany all shake hands.]BLR: Thanks a lot for doing this, guys.DG: Oh it's no problem at all.
BLR: Okay, well, I've got to head back to the office but my crew will be with you guys until you leave your workout.Tiffany: Sounds good. Take care, Bettie.BLR: You, too. Nice seeing you, Tiffany.[The couple walks into the YMCA as the camera crew follows them.]7 p.m.
[As the sun begins to set on the day's events, Doug and Tiffany enter the restaurant known as "Shays." Doug is wearing a black dress shirt and pants with his hair tied back in a ponytail while Tiffany is wearing a strapless crimson dress and wearing her hair up. They are shown to their table by the waitress and Doug holds out a chair for Tiffany in which to sit. They are shown the menus as the waitress goes to get the couple some champagne. Tiffany slowly lowers the menu and looks up at Doug. They lock eyes and just sit in silence for several moments; smiles on both of their faces.]Tiffany: Everything looks so good here.DG: Yeah, let's just not make this a regular spot because we'd go broke here in no time.
Tiffany: I wasn't just talking about the food.[Doug's smile grows and he raises his eyebrow at her.]Tiffany: I wonder if we would've gotten the VIP treatment if I would've used your stage name instead of your real name.DG: It doesn't matter. I just think it's great to get out of the apartment for a night.
Tiffany: I know. I just can't believe how good you look.DG: Well, you look incredible.
Tiffany: Thank you.[The waitress returns with the champagne.]Waitress: Okay, so what can I get for you?Tiffany: I'll have the lasagna with the creamy sauce.Waitress: Soup or salad with that?Tiffany: Salad with a lot of French dressing.Waitress: Very good. And for you, sir?DG: I'll have the steak, well done, with some chicken soup.
Waitress: Okay. I'll be right back with that.[The waitress walks off as Tiffany continues to look at Doug with a smile.]Tiffany: We come to this fancy restaurant and you still order the steak?DG: Yeah, it's the one thing on the menu that I know I'll like. So, get a good look at this shirt because it won't be this nice in a few minutes.
Tiffany: I'm sure it'll have a few wrinkles in it by tomorrow morning for laying in a pile on the floor.[Doug gives a sly grin before raising his glass. Tiffany does the same.]Tiffany: To you, hon.DG: No, no, Tiff. To us, my love.
[They tap glasses and drink their wine.]
